In the US, we’re encouraged to get the Shingles shot even if we’ve had Chicken Pox.

Hope Mr. D. Feels better.

That's because if you've had chicken pox the virus lies dormant and can be 'awakened' as shingles later, so the vaccine helps suppress it. You don't want shingles!

Yes, that’s why they encourage us to get the Shingles shot. I know someone who didn’t & it took her a year to recover from Shingles.

I heard that shingles is painful. I hope it doesn't spread. And hopefully he won't be so stubborn about taking off work!

they say 1 in 6 will get Shingles. Being one of 6 in my family that means the odds are against one of us. Shingles is one thing I hope I never get. So sorry to hear Mr. D has them. I hear they are painful and itchy. Hope he gets through this rather quickly.

A message to Mr. D: first, a speedy recovery, and most of all, listen to your wife!!
And to you, Jane, good nerves!

Getting it diagnosed quickly was a great idea. I had Shingles for more than a week before I saw a doctor. I thought it was bug bites but it kept getting worse. I wish I'd caught it earlier, then it would've gone away faster. I wish Mr. D a speedy recovery!
