Greetings, gang!

Well, it's been a crazy couple of weeks, but finally Mum and Dad are in their new home and getting settled.  They've had risk assessments done and ad has been issied with a emergency call button on a wrist band.  It was hanging on the doorknob of the wall unit when I got there last weekend, but I nagged him sufficiently that it was on his arm by the time I took Mum out to the shops about an hour later.

Because, in their previous house, with the exception of the living room and the hall, every room was fitted, so they haven't brought a great deal of furniture with them, so my job over the weekend was to take my Mum out and together we went shopping for a dining table and chairs, a bathroom cabinet, two wardrobes, a rug, two chopping boards for the kitchen, and then get home in time for the guy to come round and measure up for blinds and curtains.

Over last weekend I drove 140 miles (not including my journeys there and back).  That doesn't sound like a great distance, but on an island that's only 23 miles miles end to end, that's quite an achievement!

I met the couple who have bought their old house, and Mum and Dad seem to have struck up a lovely friendship wth them.  They are a couple in their mid sixties, Trisha and Steve, who wanted a retirement home.  They're Londoners, just like my Mum and Dad, and once they all first found that out about each other, they bonded over their shared roots, and that was it - buddies!

I was talking to Trisha and she said that they would look out for Mum and Dad when I couldn't be there, and that was so nice to hear!

I'm going over again next weekend.  Dad has a hospital appointment - and I'm going over with the car to make sure he gets there.  This is an appointment to prepare for cataract surgery.  I hope that when he gets his first cataract sorted, that will improve his quality of life a bit.

So, yep, lots happening on that front, but mostly positive thankfully :)

In other news, the bunnies say hello!
