after four days pretty much spent entirely inside of the hospital, i'm really glad to be gifted with such a great spring day. last night, somehow, the world was just calling to me. i said no to the AIR show, i said no to the party, and i'd resigned myself to drifting off with ella fitzgerald. a knock on my door came then and it was my neighbor,

i've been consciously reducing my intake of sodium, sugar, and other additives (except cayenne pepper... i freakin LOVE that stuff!), and i've been feeling fantastic! as for where to draw the line (in context of diet), i think it's a good idea to draw it somewhere around what is feasable at the present time. for example, you mention the price of food. for me, the price of produce isn't an issue. i mean, it well could be, because i don't have a great-paying job, but if it comes to getting a bevy of salad foods or a six-pack of beer, i'll go with the produce! perhaps i do truly come off as holier than thou. you've mentioned that term several times in your replies, and if that's how it is, i can take the critique. my frustration stems not simply from people eating meat, but from people by and large not thinking AT ALL about what they put into their bodies, how it effects them on all possible levels, and how it also effects the rest of the planet. in my line of thinking, if one is to really consider these things in their vastest potentials, one avoids animal products (as well as processed foods, foods that come from other climates, foods produced by inprisioned/enslaved peoples, etc). but that's just my perspective, and it's not everyone's. and it's not black or white. I EAT FISH! AND CHEESE! I LOVE BEER AND WINE, ESPECIALLY IMPORTED VARIETIES! my point here is that i know that fish die, and i believe that it is wrong for me to eat them, but the health benefits are tremendous. and anyway, about once a month, i really, really, really need a salmon dinner. i figure that my periodic, heavy craving for it is for the nutritional value. so, while i avoid it on a daily basis, on an occasional basis it is a delicacy! and i don't beat myself up for it! cheese is also a wonderful indulgence, but i am careful these days to keep it out of my daily repitoire. i think that this is a really sound line for someone to draw: there are things that are fine recreationally, but not with any serious commitment! habitual eating is just that, and i think it's a good idea for people to eat intuitively... that is to say, listening to their bodies. drugs like caffeine, booze, and such, also fit well into this category, only ideally once more removed. anyway, i probably drink 50 servings of wine or beer for every one serving of fish, so obviously i am not the end all and be all of health. don't claim to be! i just find myself gravitating toward certain things, such as raw food, herbal teas, and freshly cooked veggie meals.... and moving farther from pasta, dairy, sodas, and processed juices.
sometimes one finds herself in rome (or just a NY-style pizza joint), and it's high time to eat pizza and drink coke. but these sorts of things aren't appropriate with great frequency, you know?

Not eating sugar or artificial sweeteners is but one aspect of cleansing, (phase 1, if you will) but I did this a couple months ago, and the way that sugar steals energy, etc is readily apparent.

RAD. And Cayenne is good. Basically, it's one of the best herbs one can take. It aids ones circulation, and can greatly stimulate digestion. It contains vitamin C and E (which augment each others power) and carotenoids. The hotter the pepper, the more capsaicin it has. (capsaicin is good)

Well, I forgot to mention that produce of the 'super food' variety can be expensive. This isn't directed at you, but the average salad one eats = not very nutritional.

It's just that...if you were around me, you'd be impressed. (physically, and blah blah) And...if I was around you, I wouldn't consume meat in your presence. And...I wasn't trying to take roundabout jabs at you, but the subject of comparing ones health (and spiritual) factor can cause friction (at times) when person A doesn't want person B to think that they are 'average' in some way...and I'm babbling.
my frustration stems not simply from people eating meat, but from people by and large not thinking AT ALL about what they put into their bodies, how it effects them on all possible levels, and how it also effects the rest of the planet.
Well, that's the thing, people DON'T think. If they did, then fast food wouldn't be so ubiquitous.

...I think I'm in love.
Aaanyway, I really like the 'vastest potentials' aspect.
...but again, food is but one facet. Pollution is everywhere, and...blah blah.
Personally, for my diet to reach its vastest potential, I would need my own garden, and...etc. (I do have a strawberry garden)
and it's not black or white. I EAT FISH! AND CHEESE! I LOVE BEER AND WINE, ESPECIALLY IMPORTED VARIETIES!
I stay away from cheese for the most part. The things that you just mentioned aren't bad in moderation. (except for the cheese) Well, cheese in moderation is fine, but...fish is good for you, as are many types of wine. Beer is good in moderation, if fattening. (that said, there are innumerable types of beer)

I feel you. Also, (as you probably know) many predatory fish have too much mercury for one to eat on a regular basis, such as most types of Tuna. Salmon however is safe.
and i don't beat myself up for it!
Yet, you're comfortable with beating up others...? Hah, I'm being facetious, but some people may kind of take it that way. (again, because they care about your perceptions)

Fuck yeah, BUT...it can take a lot of trial and error and...time, before one is truly able to take proper cues regarding nutrition on an intuitive level.

Good for you. It's SO disgusting how people can drink sodas in a regular basis... That's a VERY easy way to literally make your muscles disintegrate.

I know, and...text is...weird. I think (know) that if you and I were having a conversation (in person) then confusion would be greatly minimized. (or probably non-existent)
I hope that youuu have a lovely weekend.
!
***edit*** I forgot to say that the detox is going well. I am going to incorporate other things besides no sugar or artificial things, but...yeah. Thank you for asking. <3
