(no subject)
Hmmm so what else is new...
We usually play a soccer game amongst ourselves every week but yesterday we played basketball to get ready for intramurals. I discovered something- there is a reason that I haven't attempted to play basketball since middle school. I'm awful. I dribbed once in the entire game, but I wound up making two baskets by the end (yay). At any rate, what I lack in skill I make up for with enthusiam..../aggression. I hit the pavement twice in a pile trying to get the ball in between posessions (I got it both times thank you very much) but I landed on my shoulder the first time and banged my head into Ari the second time (really hard actually, but it didn't hurt her) AND I managed to slice Kevin's finger open with my fingernail. The irony of the fingernail slicing is that I just started trying to grow them out a week or two ago. It was a bit of a battle out there.
Ooh and I had the best tapas last night. We went to Navas 14 and had brie con miel (brie with honey) and this dish of sauteed mushrooms with onions and some type of meat...yummm it was delicious. I also think that Navas 14 has the best tinto de verano, which is a spanish drink- they mix red wine with fanta limon (lemon fanta or some other type of lemon flavoring) and they serve it cold with ice. It sounds a little scary but it's really yummy. Los espanoles put fanta in a lot of things...
That's it for now. I have a lot of studying to do before Levi gets here in 2 days :-) I'll pretty much be staying in until tomorrow night because it's St. Patty's Day woohoo which is actually pretty big around here. Hannigans is gonna be a madhouse, then I think we are going to Camborio. It's gonna be a long and awesome night.

Things I need to read when I come home: Homage to Catalonia (Orwell), and Tales of the Alhambra (Washington Irving).
Things I need to re-read that really confused me the first time but I will now understand: For Whom the Bell Tolls (Hemmingway)
Which reminds me...I bought a fabulous children's book that I found. It was originally published in English I believe, but this version is fabulous. It's called, "Bajo el hechizo de la Luna: arte para ninos de los mas grandes ilustradores del mundo." The creator basically took one page each from different books illustrated by many of the best illustrators in the world for children and included one section of text from the original book and then translated that text into Spanish. So you get a full page of artwork from each illustrator, plus a snipit of text in the original language, plus the translation. We're talking Quentin Blake, Vera B. Williams, Rosemary Wells, and tons of international illustrators that I was not previously familiar with, but the artwork is just incredible. I would really like to buy the English version when I get home as well. I'm just in love with this book and as an ed major, my head is just swimming with classroom ideas. I can't wait to show it off :-)
