of Me & You & the Sky so Blue
*waves* Ugh, this first month of the year has been busy. There's so much I've wanted to talk about, yet never got the chance to. XD I'm alive and well, and been in school for a week now. I hope I can survive the semester. XD Checking about 10 days worth of flist postings but I may not comment on everyone. Just rest assured that at least by this week I'll have caught up in your lives. ^_^ This post is gonna have everything so i can clear up my to-do list.
So after my first class on the first day of school, I went to see the counselor at the Latino Services Network (a smaller group than the general counsel service and a lot nicer looking than the Women's Scenter), to see how much I've got left till I can transfer to State. Granted, I knew it would be a while as I kinda skivved all of last year in barely passing classes.
To my surprise, Japanese is no longer only a Certificates program. They now offer it as a Degree! So looking over what I've taken so far, I just need to complete English, one more science, and a health class and I can apply for transfer and a degree!! =D I still won't transfer till next year but that's fine. I guess I'll be getting my Masters in Japanese at State and then heading over to USF to grab that Masters in Creative Writing. It took me longer than most, but I think my life just may be heading somewhere. =3

Advanced Algebra: MTWRF 10-11am
Astronomy 16: Life in the Universe: MWF 12-1pm
American History: Immigrants: T 6.30-9.30pm
Speech 11a: TR 11.30-1pm
As most of you should know, I'm a Harmony shipper. I've always loved Harry/Hermione and thought it would go that way before I ever entered fandom. Apparently I missed most of the wars between them and the Canon shippers. It's fine if people like the canon ships, it's fine if people like my squick ships (snarry, puppies, teacher/student). As long as you tolerate what I like, I'll tolerate what you like.
For canon, if it was anything Ron/Hermione I was fine with it. I can't really see them working out but that's me. If anything I'd prefer Ron/Hermione/Harry. =D I DISLIKE Harry/Ginny. Always have. I don't hate people who are Harry/Ginny fans (at least ones I'm friends with), and I don't hate people who are Ron/Hermione fans. In DH there were two WONDERFUL scenes that I loved (the other praiseworthy scenes deal with prince's tale). The Dark!Horcrux!Harry/Hermione scene with Ron & Harry and when Ron thinks of the house elves and Hermione kisses him. For the first scene, I can picture it in many ways. Both scenes were emotional and well written by JKR (surprise surprise).
Of these two scenes, there has been lots of art. Fabulous art. I don't think there's a version I didn't like. But there was a recent (for me at least) posting of art about Ron destroying the locket and slicing through the images of Harry/Hermione. Just as I was about to comment on it to praise it, I glimpsed over the comments. Half of them were praising that "YAY H/HR IS DEAD" or "GO JKR! SHE HATES H/HR" (not accurate quotes, 'cept maybe for the first one). Most were NOT praising how well the artist depicted it or how beautiful it was. Yes, he was slicing through them. It's symbolic. At any rate, there was so much of it that I just couldn't post a comment.
I thought we got passed this. Why bash non-canon ships? You got your wish, let the other shippers be. It frustrates me and nearly disgusts me. Sad I can't enjoy artwork and let the artist know because of your pettiness.
eta: i forgot the artist does it also kinda (she's a r/h shipper of course) but i guess if she had had spelt out harry and hermione it may not have felt like shippy but just between the two of them. I dunno, don't mind the person behind the curtain.

1. What time period would you like to live in? Part of me wants to say some time in the past (more than 50 years up to a couple hundred years) where things were simpler and more exciting. Most of me wants to say somewhere in the future. Past what we can concieve of technology. Maybe where space travel is nearly the norm, provided we haven't bombed each other to extinction.
2. Someone writes your biography, what's the name of the book? Welcome to My Universe.
3. You discover you can travel inside pictures. Which famous pictures do you decide to visit? SNUPIN manips! *cough* J/k. I guess into the fantasy art of Amy Brown or Stephanie Liu even this one of Josephine Wall... Simply something much more different than us and more magical.
4. You find a Death Note (ie a book where you can write the name of someone while picturing their face, and they die). Do you write names in it? Whose? Or do you do something else with it? Ah the Death Note... I think I would write a couple of names in it. A couple of people who have hurt me or my friends&family in ways I wouldn't speak of here. I'd probably also write down known terrorists, a few of them, and that would be it. I would then burn the book so no random person could find it and use it for evil gain.
5. You get a familiar/magical pony/dragon/thingie! You can speak to each others in your own mind and it's your best friend. Describe what it looks like. It would have to be an animal that could either run fast or fly and that I could ride on them. Also one that could, even if temporarily, transform into a human. In his animal for he would be soft to the touch, with pointy ears and wide green eyes. His fur would be shimmering dark blue/black. Mayb like the characteristics of a dog and cat but with angelic wings that would shed a bit whenever he spread them out. Definitely a large animal with his head meeting mine or taller. Not too large of a snout, but a broad back so that maybe i could lay ontop. ^_^
So knowing that I'll be getting my Japanese degree I decided I needed to figure a way to brush up (other than studying XD). I've decided to join a Scanslation group. =D Granted, manga dialogue isn't the same as RL dialogue but it'll help with my kanji reading and certain sentence structures. =D The group? Aerandria! They have some great titles. I recc Ghost Only (Ghost Cafe with human hosts) and Midnight Secretary (Smuttyish OL story with Vampire!Boss & Human Secretary). =D AS for which title I'll be doing? HI-MI-TSU! =P
I just want to thank everyone in the fest/exchanges I was in for the loverly gifts you gave me. I'm touched and happy for it. ^_^
I wish I had the chance to rec fics (gen, het, slash) but didn't. I'm heavily thinking of making a rec-journal for fics&art. Maybe even books/movies? What do you think?
