"Choices" - A Poem

Author's Notes: Fwee! Hopefully within the next coupla days you'll see more writing work from me. ^_^ Entered yet another Gaia Contest... This poem like most of my poems came out of nowhere. I just put on some music, stared at the prompt and let it flow. A bit of editing, sorry for the overuse of elipses... ^^;; Poem is actually based on my life. A very small few of you will probably know what I'm referring to. Please, any Concrit is appreciated, good or bad!

Failure was not an option
Somehow, it became
my only option.
With the fog of competition
surrounding me, suffocating me,
I couldn't see the signs.
Blind to the world, seeing
only what I wanted to see.
Doing only what I wanted to do
and not doing what I was
Supposed to do.
I had a bright future
they always say.
I could go far,
he had said.
But today I can only live...
In the here & now...
Before, I had lived
for the future.
Before, I had lived.
Now, I simply try.
Not to give up.
Not to let go.
Somehow, I will reach,
for those beloved stars.
FAILURE. Is not an option.
But only time will tell
If I have a choice...
