All on me tod

Muriel and the kids are off to France until the end of the month. For the kids it should be an adventure, seeing their home country again for the first time in over two years, Gabrielle probably doesn't even remember the last time she was there and she's very excited to visit. Kelvin knows everything about the airplane they're flying on, naturally (that's mah boy). For Muriel it's going to be less happy, her grandmother is dying of cancer and it's probably the last days now; she's in palliative care doped-up on morphine to take the pain away. She's had a good run, over 90 years old, but time is running out now. This was her just 5 years ago, would you really say she was in her late 80's then?

So I'm back here on my own but work will be keeping me busy; we're finaling Spore Hero on the Wii after nearly two years of development, and that will be done (for me at least) on July 24th and then I'm off on sabbatical for seven weeks until mid September. Hopefully we'll be able to use the time to do some travelling and see some of the cities in this corner of the world. I'd especially like to see New York, Boston, Toronto, and perhaps D.C. and Chicago too. That's all probably too much to fit-in (and more importantly, to pay for), but it at least gives us a list of places to consider visiting over the next year or two.

First stop when the family gets back home is a short biking/camping trip to Oka, on the north shore. It's about 45km away by bike so definitely accessible in one day without needing public transport, and a great way to battle the jet lag with exercise and camping.

It would have been ideal if I could go to Europe too as it's been nearly three years since I was there and even longer since I saw my family, but the timing just doesn't work-out this summer, Muriel needs to be over there right now and I'm stuck here until the 24th. I haven't forgotten you guys though and I'm hatching plans to come and visit, watch this space.

day today
