This is hot.

So, being the dork I am, currently hard at work hammering out background for my favorite red headed Klingon-Trill hybrid, I decided to do some Google searching for Klingon wedding bands. I've been hitting a Star Trek wiki called Memroy Alpha lately, and there are all sorts of interesting bits to be found. I even installed their Firefox search engine so I can quickly find info. Their goal is to collect all the canon information for the trek verse, plus various non-canon but officially licensed data. I've found them to be pretty useful on clearing up blind spots in my knowledge for stupid background details for my character.

At any rate, the first hit Google returned to me when I search for "klingon wedding ring" was a Digg article titled "The Geek Ring: Binary Wedding Bands". It's actually a pretty cool thing, they will put whatever phrase you want onto a wedding band, up to 20 characters, in binary. It looks pretty, it's personal, and it comes in platinum. What more could a geek girl want? While I think binary is hot, I think möbius strips are hotter. And there are lots and lots of people who make a ring that are a möbius strip.

Meanwhile, I'm still seeking information on Klingon wedding bands. Memory Alpha says they go on the middle finger and usually has the name of their mate written on it, and there are some other details that I don't remember off hand, but I will look up again. I need to figure out what a human, courting a Klingon-Trill hybrid would offer up as an engagement ring. This ring has been featured in RPG posts, but I have never actually described it as more than a ring on a necklace.

Edit: Correction, upon reexamining Memory Alpha, I find no mention of the Klingon wedding bands, so I must have stumbled across that elsewhere. My Google Fu is weak, and I have found little else. I suppose I'll just have Dizi's lover boy adapt human traditions to suit her tastes. *shrugs*
