So, right now money's tight, but there are things I really need to do. It's getting to the point where I might start applying at some of my fall back job options, just to get a little income again. At any rate, I'm trying to consider what things I need to have that I don't have yet. Maybe you guys can help me decide. These are the things I think I need:
- Living room Bookshelf I currently want/need a main bookshelf. I will put all my books, my records, some artwork I've made/collected, and possibly CDs and/or DVDs. I am pretty sure I'm going to use the Ivar shelving line that Ikea offers.
- Couch I've found one I like at Ikea that's fairly inexpensive, has a bajillion different colored/patterned slipcovers available for it, is of a shape that I could likely make my own slipcovers for it easily, and seems to be comfortable and solid.
- Artroom Shelving My mom has offered to buy shelving for the room that's going to be our art room, but I'm unsure when she'll be able to do this. Also, the style shelves she wants to get I don't like as much, but as I wouldn't be paying for it, I suppose I shouldn't complain. If I buy the shelving myself, I'll likely use the Ivar shelving I am planning for my living room shelf.
- Bathroom Shelving I'd like a little one on the wall next to the sink, to store my cotton ball box, my q-tip box, and my blue night light dude. Also, a slightly bigger shelf above the toilet would likely be useful too. I am thinking I like the look of the glass suspension shelves from The Container store, the ones with two anchor points in the wall and a triangle of wire from each running through some hardware attached to the glass to hold the shelf.
- Paper Shredder My mom's boyfriend has a shedder, but it's older and having a hard time working for more than one short run at a time. I'm looking for a good cross cut shredder that results in small secure paper waste, ideally will also shred CDs and old credit cards.
- Bedroom Shelving Currently have have this piece of crap made out of particle board and painted black, it was left in the apartment by previous tenants before my mom and Gene moved in. They didn't want it, so it ended up downstairs when that was added to the apartment. Right now it holds my CDs, DVDs, Games for PS2 and Atari, as well as some other random junk like multivitamins and candles. I'm torn between some wall mounted shelving or more of the Ivar stuff. I'd like to have somewhere to store laundry baskets, stuffed animals, and any of the stuff currently on the particle board shelf that wouldn't end up on the living room shelf.
- Flat Panel Monitor My computer is in my living room, and when I get myself a flat panel monitor, I plan to make it into my entertainment center, with the flat panel being the TV equivalent. If I can get one of a decent size that also has a TV tuner in it, I'll be set if I get around to setting up an antenna, or we get satellite in the house.
Please rank each item in the order you think it's important, 1 being the first thing I should buy when I have the money, 7 being the last thing I should buy. Please try not to consider how much each item is going to cost me, but instead rank on how important the item is likely to be for my household.
