0034`43 Modus Nick: At any rate, I'm folding up for the night.
0034`50 Saturn Girl 6: wait!
0034`57 Saturn Girl 6: one more thing!
0034`57 Modus Nick: Waiting ...
0036`49 Saturn Girl 6: ...ummm, I had a thought... how likely would it be that someone would take a mall that is in the process of dying and turn it into a skatepark? Most specificly, by 2009, I'll bet the only place left in Bay Fair mall would be Radio Scrap... do you think someone would buy the place up, bring in fast food chains, and convert the rest into a skatepark? Radio Scrap would stay, and sell prepaid phones and batteries and music players and shit to the skateboarding punks... would that be likely?
0037`12 Saturn Girl 6: ...maybe it was where Alara and co went before the mall on TI opened and had the new skatepark there?
0037`23 Modus Nick: I don't know if someone would do the whole mall, but I'm not sure how big BayFair is to begin with.
0037`33 Saturn Girl 6: not very
0037`48 Modus Nick: Compare to Stoneridge.
0037`48 Saturn Girl 6: very much working on being dead and buried right now :-P
0038`08 Saturn Girl 6: ummm... been too long since I've been there, so I donno if I could do an accurate comparison.
0038`36 Saturn Girl 6: ...but maybe they could also bring in shops of the target audience to fill what's not taken by the skatepark?
0038`51 Modus Nick: Well, given the cost of property, it'd be pretty tough to take over the building ... however, making an 'urban' kind of thing in the old parking lot is possible.
0038`53 Saturn Girl 6: it has easy bart access, makes it a great location for the target demograph
0039`19 Modus Nick: Or, hell, the skaters just kind of took it over (the parking lot).
0039`28 Saturn Girl 6: ...just the parking lot?
0039`38 Modus Nick: Is Bay Fair an enclosed mall or open air?
0040`20 Saturn Girl 6: enclosed... single level I believe. With some half level differences and stuff. Probably not too bad for a "realistic" type setting for a skatepart
0040`48 Modus Nick: It's just not likely that the property owner would go for it.
0041`41 Saturn Girl 6: ...what if someone bought it as a present for a spoiled rich kid to turn into a skatepark for a present? And opened to the public to make money off of it?
0042`09 Modus Nick: That's a bit of a stretch, even for Dad.
0042`23 Modus Nick: I have a small black cat telling me it's time to go to bed.
0042`32 Saturn Girl 6: point... but tell Maggie to wait@!
0042`36 Modus Nick: I've even been brought a stuffed mouse as an encouragement.
0042`40 Saturn Girl 6: I'm trying to sell you on it!
0042`47 Saturn Girl 6: :-P
0042`56 Saturn Girl 6: it just seems like a good idea to me!
0043`21 Modus Nick: The corporate types would sooner paint their asses blue and hang from a flagpole.
0043`48 Saturn Girl 6: ...but someone has to realize the skateboarders are a paying demographic too!
0044`08 Saturn Girl 6: ...and if the mall's already dead, it's not like they're kicking a ~good~ income out to try this
0044`29 Modus Nick: Yes, but they're preserving property value.
0044`39 Saturn Girl 6: ...?
0044`48 Modus Nick: For future sale.
0045`05 Saturn Girl 6: ...it'll probably just get torn down to the ground when it gets sold anyhow!
0045`13 Modus Nick: The only way it MIGHT happen is if the mall went the way of the Cathedral of La Sagrada Familia in Barcelona.
0045`26 Saturn Girl 6: ....?
0045`34 Modus Nick: i.e., the architect died.
0045`50 Saturn Girl 6: *blinks*
0046`11 Modus Nick: So if the mall was partially demolished and the company went bankrupt, the bank would own the property.
0046`40 Modus Nick: They might not finish the demolition.
0047`07 Saturn Girl 6: ...so can we assume something like that happened? And we'd know Radio Scrap would stay 'til they literally destroyed the store around them ;)
0047`11 Modus Nick: And while they wouldn't enter into a formal agreement with the skaters, they might allow them to use part of it.
0047`25 Saturn Girl 6: ah
0047`46 Modus Nick: However, there'd be all sorts of liability issues. ('My son fell, impaled himself on rebar, and It's The City's Fault!")
0048`02 Modus Nick: So we'll have to bat that one around some more.
0048`34 Modus Nick: And I'm going ... going ... gone
0048`36 Saturn Girl 6: okay, well, don't doubt that I will bring it up again. For now I'll let you go crash into bed. :-P
0048`47 Modus Nick: I know you'll bring it up again. :)
0048`51 Saturn Girl 6: :)
0048`56 Saturn Girl 6: Harass you later :)
0049`00 Modus Nick: See ya.
0049`04 Modus Nick: Still sulking?
0049`16 Saturn Girl 6: nope, did importaint stuff :-P
0049`21 Modus Nick: Good.
