It seems like you might be able to get one thick curtain? Maybe as curtain lining..? I have been looking for heavy curtains lately and denim seems pretty sturdy for keeping light out.

Some vaguely useful ideas?

How about a jean quilt? They are pretty frickin simple and super warm (line the other side with fleece)
