productive weekend! (originally posted to cloth_pads)

I went down to my friend
Melissa's this weekend, since she has a sewing machine and a snap press, and I had some fabric itching to be cut and sewn into pads. So I made the two hour trip down, and we had a great weekend.

Pile of scraps from what I cut...

I um, got a little carried away cutting out pads.

Sewing. I hadn't sewn in probably at least 15 years, if not closer to 20, and the learning curve at first was rough, but I got the hang of it so well that I had a hard time leaving! I wanted to keep sewing!

Concentrating on keeping it straight.

First one done with snaps and a cheesy grin to go with it!

Snapped up, inner layer facing out. It had been a long day at this point and we were punchy.

Snapped, underside.

The first four done, I called it a night.

But...I went to bed early, exhausted from a long walk in the morning, driving with no cruise on the way down, and sitting so long to sew. But I got up early the next morning, excited to sew again.

And sew I did! I finished 15 in all in less than 24 hours, with several yet to be sewn, which will be done at my mom's when she's in Alaska in June and I'm housesitting.

The unfolded beauty shot. I'm so pleased with how some of them turned out. And I'm a wee bit obsessed with The Pink Panther, gotta say...

All in all, it was a great weekend, I got hooked on sewing again, and I'm just getting started into all of this! I'm excited to use them later this month.
