developing patterns, need your input

 Hi,
I am a newbie.  I own a computerized quilting machine and have a home based business.  Recently I began developing digitized patterns for mom/baby products.  I have so many ideas and when a friend suggested cloth baby diapers I began online searching and came across the cloth menstrual pads.  Wow I wish I had this info years ago.  So now I am on a quest to make the perfect pad.  Once I get a design on my computer, my machine will be able to stitch all the layers together and voila, a little cutting, serging and snapping and I'll be done.

I plan to use PUL in the middle and I have Hobb's 100% organic batting scraps because of my quilting.  So I was planning to use 2 layers of that in an all-in-one wing design.  I saw some designs with quilting thru them, is that to keep it from bunching with washing?  I thought I would just use 100% cotton unbleached muslin for the bottom layer because it won't show anyway.  If I "load" my quilting machine with the 108" muslin than I can quilt up any of my patterns from totebags, purses, to diapers and menstrual pads without having to switch fabrics.

I would really like input from anyone since I haven't made anything or worn anything yet.  So what you like or don't like about different styles or fabrics or whatever.  I am not sure what I want to use for the top fabric, whether it should be flannel, fleece, organics, etc.

I have 2 young daughters so I am excited that they won't have to wear the sweaty disposables like I have had.  I recently found the Diva cup so that was a huge improvement.

I was intrigued by the post about the charity work.  I would love to participate especially since I potentially could make these on a large scale with my industrial equipment.

Anyone wanting to share a jpeg of a pattern would be great in helping me tweak my designs.

Thanks for this forum, I look forward to reading the responses and continuing to learn.  Also in developing this product I would love anyone to help with testing protypes and offering feedback.
