The Alvida Project

For the . . . none of you? . . . who don't know One Piece this may not make sense.

So for the few of you who know me in real life or have seen me, you know that I'm a plus-sized woman. I can't buy clothing in most clothing stores (not counting the big department stores - I'm talking about places like Abercrombie and Fitch, New York and Company, Forever 21, etc) and honestly my health is probably suffering for it.

So this year I started Weight Watchers and this time, gosh darn it, it appears to be working! At the very least even when I'm not following the plan perfectly I'm leaner towards better choices. The grand total thus far (and I may as well make a habit of posting my loss each week here on LJ) is 14.2 pounds!!!

But, I'm still fluffy.

Additionally, I like to go to cons and my friends and I are going to Otakon this year (not a small trek - I'm from New Hampshire, so it's an 8+ hour drive to get to Maryland). And my friends are really, really into cosplay, and last year I did a little bit but I got a significant amount of help.

This year I want to go as Episode 1 Alvida, which my friends are in support of (not because they think I should only cosplay heavy characters - not true at all - but because no one cosplays Alvida and they love it when people cosplay characters off the beaten path).

So is this post called The Alvida Project because I'm going to be chronicling the construction of the costume? No, not really. What I want to do is cosplay Alvida while I'm still heavy and then re-cosplay her for Otakon 2012/2013 much smaller in her more recent form (i.e. post Smooth Smooth Fruit). I will then carry around a picture of me as Old Alvida once I get down to my "fighting weight".

What are your thoughts, fun people on Livejournal?
