Oh well....

The finalized version of my job is just this....I'm jobless. I don't mind all that much because I have enough school and other stuff around the house and dad's barns to keep me busy, but I did enjoy working with the handicapped kids. I was one-on-one with a child that was literally a perfect mind trapped in an imperfect body. I felt very bad for him, but made ammends with the situation and did what I could during my alotted time to make his eyes smile. He was having a tough go of it and developed a serious infection from a new feeding tube. He will be home for quite a while...and apparently so will I. I don't mind it that much...I just feel badly for him.

I really do not want to work full time at the moment because I have WAY too much schoolwork and kid's school-oriented crap to do. It was a huge strain on the family for me to be trapped away somewhere other than home....I hope they can manage when they're older and I have my bachelors degree...would hate to waste the hard work I'm putting into get it! I talked with my brother (yes the hunting lodge owner and all around hunting-freak) and I am going to spend some time helping him out in order to keep some income...however little it is. I don't mind doing all this...I grew up around all this. I will also do some of the meat processing for dad this fall...after managing the stables all day and shoeing the odd horse he doesn't want to come home and work more....which is fine for me. We also get all the meat that hunters do not want. Can you believe they would pay a ton of money to kill an animal and not even want to eat it? They just want the head to hang over their fireplace....I think that is just wrong and what gives hunting and hunters a bad name, but at least I don't let the animals go to waste. I haven't bought storebought pork in like 3 years...lol. I have just recently started tanning extra backhides to sell for profit...since no one wanted them. Oddly enough, there is money in all of that. I find it particularly funny because here I am...very well educated and working on my BS and skinning out hogs or mounting hog heads or something...I think it's hilarious. Most girls would possibly shrivel up and die before doing this, but it is part of my life. I grew up hunting and eating deer and hogthrough the winter to ease the grocery bill....I just think I'm lucky to get it direct and not AFTER the grocer has injected it with all sorts of minerals I don't want in my system! Oh, and if you're reading this and thinking "oh...poor animals"....well, if you eat meat then SHUT UP. If you're a vegetarian...then skip this entry and read someone else's LJ for a few...okay.

Today is an exciting day for me. I am supposed to be getting ready for church, but my son didn't exactly sleep last night and everyone else inthe house is still snoring except for me. Anyway, I'm getting my new mare today...possibly. A woman emailed wanting my high dollar walker and bless his heart, he is a "senior" in the horse world and in need of some TLC and quite possibly better accomodations than I have for him. I wasn't wanting to say goodbye to him, but it seemed a good deal for the old man to live out his retirement years in comfort rather than fighting all the ill mannered mares here for food. She said she had a trail-worthy, parade-worthy little stock mare that was a great ride and threw pretty babies. I went ahead and made up my mind to take her right then...for the sake of my elderly walker. I was then emailed a pic of the mare and GOD BLESS A MILK COW...she is a bald face paint with independent spotting and four socks....just like my other little paint that I rode so much and had to part with due to him being proud cut! Get this..she throws color EVERYTIME. The lady said she had never had a solid baby and always had the loud colored ones....and she sends me a pic of one of her colts. and OMG...it is outstanding. I'm thinking I could get me quite a colored mule from her and my daughter will have a truly dead-head mare to show in 4-H stock classes...works for me. I really wanted to hang onto the old man walker, but we have rough winters here and he will be severely hurt by them. All in all I think this worked out rather well. Of course the mare isn't papered, but that is okay by me. I can't paper the mule anyway without the jack having lineage....I just want the color. I'm big for underdogs anyway. The best horses I have ever had have always been mixed breeds or unpapered or just kinda ugly...LOL.

Oh, and to top it all off. The guy at the sawmill was telling us how his wife (that he just recently married) has already taken off after spending the majority of his money. I never missed a beat and said "the prettier the woman, the more in debt you go". I guess I should have kept my mouth shut, but he gave his knee a slap and laughed until he cried and agreed 100% with me. Funny eh? I guess that is why my hubby gets by so cheap...LOL.
