I went to Destrehan to bring the truck back, and my sister had pulled out some floppy disks from HS. Why? I don't know. They were filled with old school assignments, senior project, ROTC pictures, and even one from Alg. II that had a ton of Key Concepts on it.
I realized that very few computers could read this old information now. My cool floppy disk holders that were hard plastic and colored are now useless. Later, 3.5" disks. Your tiny-memory quota will not be missed.
Besides being sad about the advancement of technology that left behind our stupid disks that had a flap, I am quite euphoric. Something has come up that really does have me defying gravity. I'm smiling, and I dance when I wake up again.
Besides being happy about whatever that previous paragraph refers, I'm quite sad when it comes to technology again. I put my laptop on the top shelf of my closet today. I didn't want to look at it anymore. I have all this great music on a list that I cannot download, I have the same music on my iPod because I cannot update it, I have to walk to check my email, and my TV has recently been being turned on.
I hope my laptop is content on my top shelf, where things exist that I have not looked at since I moved in 14 months ago. I really feel bad about getting Dose to look at it, because everyone goes to Dose when computers go wrong. I'm really scared to tell my dad about it. He paid $1600 three years ago and I cannot break that kind of news to him. Knowing him though, he'd bitch me out and give me his credit card number.
I think, if I happen to get a new comp, I'll go with a Mac. My iPod feels kind of shunned by all these Microsoft products in the area. I wonder if my external keypad would work with a Mac though. A small price to pay, but sad nonetheless if they happen to be incompatable.
I'm writing like I'm drunk now, so I'm going back upstairs. This "lab" is cold, anyway.
