I AM RETURNED!

Thanks to everyone who came out to see me during my brief stay. To those I didn't see, or only saw for a few minutes, and you were legion, I apologize from the deepest part of my shallow lil heart, which loves you all.

See how much I miss you all? Even my clauses are over-dependant.

Your grammar is so cute! ;)

(although you did misspell "dependent")

My spelling is atrocious. My -ible/-able and -ant/-ent ones are especially so. =(

Grammar is pretty good though.

Well, given that those -ant/-ent and -able/-ible endings are based only on whether the verb in Latin ended in -are, -ere, or -ire, it's certainly not intuitive.

I had no idea it was actually based on anything. Fowler said that it was impossible to know and to keep a dictionary around. Then again, for all his majesty, he also thought 'ale' was a genteelism for 'beer', so he's at least fallable. That bothers me is that he would have attended a grammar school, and should have made the connection. Ah well.

"fallible." ;-)

What does grammar school have to do with ale?

Nothing, but he'd know the Latin endings and could offer better advice than 'consult the dictionary'.
