Lobby -

Luc's lingering in the lobby, watching the rain outside. So far, he's not real sure how much he likes this place. First off, he doesn't like being limited and doesn't like having to work like these mortals. Second, the place seems rather... he's not sure... but cold, maybe.

So, he leans against the frame of one of the main windows, watching it

There's a tall, middle-age, Asian man sweeping the lobby floor with a look of pleasure on his face as if he were petting a favorite cat.

He quirks an eyebrow at the man seemingly happily sweeping the floor. Why anyone would enjoy menial labor is beyond him.

He eventually sweeps his way over.

"Hello, young man, I am Louis. Welcome home."

He holds out a hand in greeting.

He blinks once, slowly.

"And how do you figure I'm younger than you?"

He looks between the extended hand and the man's face for a moment, contemplating.

He smiles warmly at him.

"Because I was there when you were born."

"I've been around for a very long time."

He's still not shaking the man's hand.

"Most of us here have. Peter is a young one, but he is bright and intuitive."

The hand returns to his broomstick.

"Yes, I know. I was told that when we were sent here."

About the residents having been around a while, not the bit about Peter.

"What else were you told? And what shall we call you?"

"What else?" He shrugs. "That Az and I had to do all the mundane things that mortals must do. Not real happy about that."

He sighs.

"Mr. Benedicenti."

Because he likes to irritate people. And he follows the older traditions - formality until familiarity is established.

"I am very pleased to meet you, Mr. Benedicenti. Louis Cottleston at your service. I live on the sixth floor with Peter D'Avila and I own the bookshop around the corner. Do let us know how we can make you and, Az, did you say, more comfortable."

He nods. He'd give his room information but he doesn't want to and he hasn't assigned an apt number yet.

"Uh huh."

He smiles serenely and goes back to sweeping.

"I'm an attorney."

Flat. Boring. One might get the impression he doesn't much like his job.

He stops and faces him again.

"Oh? Where is your practice? Do you have a specialty?"

"In town."

He shrugs, still watching the rain falling outside.

"Specialize in whatever strikes my mood."
