2x03: Red Badge
Best Episode Ever! I really should go to sleep...but I can't shut my brain off tonight...grrrrrr. I meant to post this earlier. It's definitely been an open document on my computer for several hours! Heeee.
Okay, so I’m typing this up, 5 minutes after Red Badge ended so I don’t forget anything! Wow. That was one of the best episodes of any show that I have ever seen. Robin is such an amazing actress, and hopefully this episode will bring her some of the recognition she deserves. I’m honestly in awe. Even my mom was staring open mouthed at the screen.
1) I liked that it started out on a light note-Jane’s ant facts and Lisbon opening the heavy door after Jane called for Rigsby. Heh. Girl power!
2) I loved that we learned more (FINALLY) about Lisbon. Seeing her apartment, the picture of her brothers-it was an old picture too. I wonder if they still keep in touch? The details about her dad…sigh, my heart was breaking.
3) I also really enjoyed Van Pelt’s hero worship. “You’re like a super hero with a secret identity!” That was one of my favorite lines, and I love how in awe she was of her boss. Lisbon’s lack of discussion made her seem so humble- I love how she doesn’t brag about cases that ‘made’ her career.
4) I almost had a fit when Minelli, Bosco, and Jane were ganging up on Lisbon. She was sitting and they were towering over her, and I just wanted to give her a hug. Robin did a spectacular job looking so small and lost throughout most of the episode until building to the ‘breakdown’.
5) “Anger turns you-Yes it does” I wonder if this line is a bit of slight foreshadowing to Jane and Red John. I really liked it, even if I’m reading too much into it!
6) I loved that Cho and Van Pelt bonded and were positive Lisbon didn’t do it. Rigsby made me a little mad, but I was relieved when he stood up to Bosco in the end. I also liked how Bosco finally accepted the team’s help. If Lisbon had done it, I’m sure it would have been covered up. Loved the loyalty and maybe the two teams will see more eye to eye?
7) Jane’s hypnotism was amazing, and I’m sad it wasn’t a ‘real’ hug. Sigh. He was so worried about her though, and I started crying when she did. Especially when she asked him to leave. She couldn’t make eye contact, and started crying, and I just lost it with her.
8) I loved Cho’s protective streak come out-when he escorted her out after she broke the window, and how he threatened the suspect. I think he and Lisbon are pretty close. I love Cho!
9) I loved it when they framed the doctor! Lisbon was adorable in the oversized hockey jersey! (I think it was hockey?) I was so worried at first when I saw the alcohol, then I remembered it was a set-up. I bet Jane enjoyed that little bit!!! It was amazing how she could turn off the hysteria almost immediately when the doctor confessed.
10) Best part ever was Jane’s lingering look after he brought her the donut. He totally checked her out and she didn’t even notice! I LOVED it! It was totally full of lust-don’t deny!
