Travel Journal - Day Four

May 09, 2004 21:12

On Sunday we spent the morning doing more wandering around the mall and generally not doing much. In the afternoon, we changed into our casual clothing - polo shirts and sweat pants. Black for the adults and navy blue for the children as usual.

There were a few more visitors today, but not as many as the other day. We sat and folded paper money for a little bit, but eventually stopped because we didn't need the fire burning for that much longer. From about 2:00-3:00 pm we remained in the funeral home reception room, carrying out pretty much the same activities of the previous night. We couldn't leave until we burned all of the paper and money, etc.

Before we left for the crematorium, everyone went in to say their final goodbyes to the body. Flowers and the leftover pieces of gold and silver paper were arranged by the funeral home employees and they replaced the lid on his coffin. We bowed before the altar once more with our incense, then stood to one side as men in green attire wheeled the coffin out. Kaofu lead the way carrying GongGong's picture.
