Before heading down to the store for the day, 'Dite decided it was time she check up on the cause of a certain text that she'd received. Settling on her couch, she put her feet up and dialed

Dinah was studying (yes, she did that, sometimes) but with the door open and an interesting conversation going on in the hallway between Gabby and Travis, comparing girlfriends. And ex-boyfriends.
"I'm just saying, as long as you're honest with them, you don't have anything to apologize for..."
She picked up the phone, and grinned ruefully at the Caller ID. "Hey, 'Dite. How are things in crazyland?"
"Been too long," Dinah admitted. "Have you been traveling around again?" She looked down at her Criminal Justice text, and grimaced. "Things in my world are good. I'm just-- things have been weird inside my head, lately."
"Well, yeah, been traveling. That's gotta stop. I think I'm needed here." She paused. "I figured something was up when I got that text. What's going on with you, kiddo?"
They could talk about Island insanity and Kaeleeran escapades later.
Then again, this stuff was minor, compared to Kaeleer, even if it hurt a lot. "I'm kind of dating someone. Taking it real slow. Just, you know. Coffee and movies, and study dates." She smiled a little. "It's nice. Ooo, wait, here's a photo of him... It's a dorky picture, but he's really nice."
Dinah sent that through and then said, "I told him he might be the rebound. He was okay with it."
"Yup. I'm his first real girlfriend. Except," Dinah took a breath, "I like him a lot, but it's weird, you know? There's so much he doesn't know about me yet. It almost feels weird to say 'girlfriend' when we're just dating." She raised an eyebrow. "What's the Island been up to now?"
"That's what being a girlfriend means, Dinah. It means you're dating. Doesn't mean you've committed to having his children or anything." Aphrodite winced when she realized Dinah had indeed heard her muttered complaint. "Nothing. Never mind. We're talking about you. What's his name? Is he in college with you? Are you thinking of telling him about the telepathy and moving stuff and all?"
"Well, no. But committing to other steps before that..." Dinah wasn't sure yet. As much as she liked kissing him and making him blush. "Kyle. He's from Metropolis, computer science major. Smart, you know? And... I'm thinking about it." She looked out to the hall, but Gabby and Travis were still engrossed in their talk.
"So yeah, some people, you can tell, they just don't want to date, it's not even that they like you so much as they want to have a wingman..."
"I'm trying to feel out how he thinks about, you know. That kind of stuff." She huffed a little. "I think he's okay with it? He likes Superman? But everyone likes Superman. He's kind of like the crush object of the universe. Doesn't mean he'd be okay with me doing that... stuff."
Something Dinah said made 'Dite take the phone from her ear and stare at it. Then she moved it back.
"Wait, are you saying that in your world Superman is real?" She paused for barely a second. "If I come visit, will you introduce me? Can I move th -- wait, wait, wait. Crush object of the universe? Dinah, that would be me."
"You know who he is?" Dinah was always thrilled when people recognized her hero. "Sure he's real, he just saved Tahiti from a tsunami a couple months ago, too. And I wish I could introduce you. I wish I could introduce me." She lowered her voice to say, "I think Barbara knows who he is. But she isn't saying..."
Then she was just giggling. "Oooo, my mistake. You won't break his heart, right?"
"Not on purpose! And of course, Superman has to save the world a lot. Maybe you could date, though..." No, that wasn't getting farther away from the subject.
Travis and Gabby were now comparing dumping techniques, so Dinah toed the door shut, then flopped back on her futon. "Jaime and I kind of had a huge fight at Halloween. I haven't talked to him since. I need to text him, though, because things just got really complicated with him and Momoko."
"Okay, let me catch up. Jaime is the guy you broke up with just before you left the island, right?"
She was trying to remember everything that Dinah had told her. "I think you've mentioned Momoko, but I don't remember what it was connected to. How did things get complicated?"
"Yes. And. I wasn't exactly good with it. It was his idea. Which, I finally yelled at him about talking me into it on Halloween. So. We were staying away from each other, so we could both really get over it, since he still doesn't want and isn't going to change his mind about us breaking up." And two weeks later, it hurt, but it was starting to fade, a little, around the edges.
Dinah grimaced. "You know Wednesday when people were telling the truth too much? I'm guessing you migh've noticed? ... Momoko called me then."
'Dite remembered that day. As she'd walked to the store three men had said 'hello, I'd really like to sleep with you.' Two of them had then run away as fast as they could while the third just raised his eyebrow and waited for an answer.
Not that 'Dite would ever admit what her answer was.
"I think it's a good idea if you two give yourselves time to heal. Breaking up, even for a good reason, always hurts." She frowned. "What happened with Momoko?" 'Dite had an idea, but wasn't going to say.

She was betting the two wouldn't be going so slow if they'd been on island this week. Dinah might have heard a muttered 'stupid Island'.

"Why the sigh?"
