Yesterday we went out to dinner with Joyce and Ashley, and Joyce took Elisabeth home for the night. We stopped for ice cream on the way home.
When we got home, Olivia asked for a pop tart. "No, sweetie, that's too much sugar," said Jane.
"I want a donut," she said.
"No, honey," I said, "we've already had enough treats for the night."
She thought about this for a moment, then declared, "I need real food!" Now, this was great to hear, because we've been trying to teach her the idea of balancing treats and 'real' food (weighted heavily towards the real of course), and the first step there is getting the conccepts across.
"Okay, what would you like?" I asked.
She thought about this for another moment and then said, "um, maybe cookies is real food!"
