History:
"Jade is a colonel in the Malkuth Empire's military. He is both a skilled fonist and a master of the spear. He always smiles, so no one knows what he is truly thinking. He is known to be the right-hand man to the Malkuth Emperor, Peony, but he is also known among those in the military as “Jade the Necromancer.”" -NAMCO

Jade enters the game on his land dreadnaught lovingly named the Tartarus. His request is that Luke meets with Emperor Peony to resolve the issues between Kimlasca and Malkuth and put an end to the war. Jade's hope dims as Oracle Knights break into the Tartarus to take the Fon Master. Jade's fon slots are sealed by Largo the Black Lion during a confrontation in the hallway, leaving him at Luke's poor level. Going from a master of fonic artes to fighting at Luke's level is degrading, and the fon slot seals, according to Jade, make him feel weighted.

So Jade joins the party, adding in his two cents along the way and all of his biting comments. He dislikes Luke until he cuts his hair and makes an attempt to change. After that it quickly appears that Jade becomes fond of Luke, but it isn't until the end of the game that Jade is comfortable with telling Luke that he likes him. As the game progresses, Luke learns that Jade grew up in Keterburg and had a knack for science and "reanimation". He also learns that Jade did not grow up alone; he has a sister, Nephry, the future Malkuth Empire's king, Peony and Saphir who later became Dist the Reaper.

Jade became a pupil of a woman named Professor Nebilim and devoted much of his time to learning more about the Seventh Fonon. After a freak experiment resulting in Professor Nebilim's death, Jade then devoted his time to create Fomicry with the help of Saphir. Together they were able to replicate the beloved professor, but the replica turned out to be a deadly monster. Several times Dist calls out to Jade to leave his "comrades" and come with him to resurrect Nebilim, but Jade knows Fomicry is not the answer, and the replica would not be the real Nebilim.

With his talent, Jade also creates and develops many things used by the people of Auldrant.

Throughout the game Jade confronts himself about the creation of Fomicry and its effects on the world. He is torn between gladness that Fomicry brought about Luke's birth, and disappointment that Fomicry is also harmful to the world and its people. The player learns that though Fomicry is the creation of replicas, often times the replication process drains the original of energy until they die, and the replica dies not long after. His creation earned him the titles "Father of Fomicry" and "Jade the Necromancer".

At the end scene, Jade stands with the rest of the group waiting for Luke to return like he promised. Jade never gets to see Luke return, instead losing consciousness after Tear's finished singing Yulia's hymns.
