("Actually, I agree with the idea of people having a poor self image, I think a lot of factors go into that, societal, enviornmental, but I attribute it to people not actually believeing most of the negative things they say about themselves and only wanting confirmation from others of all the positive things they see about themselves.") I don't think I was looking at it that way; but thank you so much for bringing that possibility to the fore! Very insightful. I think it's probably true. Yet; total truth can never be achieved, as humans in any circumstance mostly suffer the ability to ever be completely objective. Also; I think there is a certain amount of necessary confirmation as all we can obtain of our own identities lies in the mirrors around us-i.e. other people. That is sort of where I was going with my previous thought actually; I feel that we need to analyze those around us in order to have a better understanding of ourselves.
