I figured that most intelligent people have gone through a period where they were dwelling on these decidedly negative subjects. Generally, I am not one of those people, I usually have a decently high opinion of myself, which sometimes gets characterized by others as being arrogance, not incorrectly at times I must admit. But even me with my quirky outlook, go through moments of introspection, especially since I am deeply interested in psychology, I have been for years, and I tend to enthusiastically analyze others around me, wether they wish me to or not so I decided for a turn to analyze myself which in reality, is not the best of ideas because you cannot look at yourself objectively. Actually, I agree with the idea of people having a poor self image, I think a lot of factors go into that, societal, enviornmental, but I attribute it to people not actually believeing most of the negative things they say about themselves and only wanting confirmation from others of all the positive things they see about themselves.
Thank you for taking the time out to comment, it is much appreciated. <3
What a brilliant point you bring to light there! ("Actually, I agree with the idea of people having a poor self image, I think a lot of factors go into that, societal, enviornmental, but I attribute it to people not actually believeing most of the negative things they say about themselves and only wanting confirmation from others of all the positive things they see about themselves.") I don't think I was looking at it that way; but thank you so much for bringing that possibility to the fore! Very insightful. I think it's probably true. Yet; total truth can never be achieved, as humans in any circumstance mostly suffer the ability to ever be completely objective. Also; I think there is a certain amount of necessary confirmation as all we can obtain of our own identities lies in the mirrors around us-i.e. other people. That is sort of where I was going with my previous thought actually; I feel that we need to analyze those around us in order to have a better understanding of ourselves.
Psychology has always fascinated me as well. It's completely engaging reading what you write; so commenting seems a natural response. I'm glad you share your thoughts. So, thank you!
