[The communicator clatters to the floor to the sound of a startled bark. For a moment the view of the ceiling is blocked by a black nose, snuffling at it before pulling away. A confused looking white wolf stares down at the communicator before turning to study its surroundings. This place is not the place she's supposed to be ( Read more... )

[Ammy barks in surprise, looking around for the source of the noise.]

[Giovanni was still exploring much of the city so new to him yet. This included the inside of buildings as much as the outside surroundings and his usual place amongst the rooftops. Currently he was looking for any useful supplies or perhaps even something worthy of Christmas to be found in one of the buildings.

That was when he ran into the snow-white wolf.

It was unexpected to say the least. Normally he would have crept away, sticking with his familiar shadows as he watched the creature warily but something caught his eye and he stopped. He surprised even himself when he spoke aloud. In his native tongue, unfortunately for the Japanese goddess.]

Che cosa hai lì, uno bianco? Non credo che vi appartiene. Dovrebbe essere nelle mani di uno dei residenti qui. Sarò prendere che poi. [What do you have there, white one? I don't believe that belongs to you. It should be in the hands of one of the residents here. I'll be taking that then.]

[Her ears perked at the sound of footsteps and she froze, her ears angling forward and her dark eyes staring with a surprising intensity. In this wasteland she'd expected something along the lines of a demon, but when a man appeared, she perked up with interest ( ... )

[He froze, hand on the hilt of his sword at his waist. And yet he did not immediately unsheath it to attack the wolf. He watched it with a wary eye. The creature was beautiful but he also knew it was a predator; swift, keen, and fierce the wolf was not an animal to be trifled with.

Yet it seemed to him it had no intention of making him its prey. In fact, it seemed more like a lost pet whining for its master than anything else. At the least it was a rather tame beast that was familiar with humans.

He relaxed minutely when all the wolf did was sniff curiously at his clothes, and when the device was actually brought to him he hesitated briefly before kneeling cautiously before the creature.]

Ti sei perso, allora? È il suo padrone anche qui, da qualche parte? [Are you lost then? Is your master here too, somewhere?]

[He reached out with a steady hand to pet the wolf gently atop the head, lingering near her nose long enough for a good sniff before trying anything first. His other hand reached for the communicator but did not try to pry ( ... )

[She would remember his scent, as well as that he carried himself like a swordsman. Not quite the same as many of the swaggering samurai, but she knew another predator when she saw one. To call her tame was incorrect, Ammy only seemed tame because she saw few other creatures as threats. When one is a goddess, one does not need to constantly be on their guard.

Which meant she could enjoy a good scratching as much as she pleased, she knew there was no reason to lash out for something so simple. Besides, she had earned a few scratches after all her hard work. Planting one paw on his knee, she released the communicator to snuffle at it, then stare at him expectantly.]

[Seeing another dog in the city was a thrill, even if they were stuck on the other side of the weird television thing. It meant someone else who could understand him; some connection to the world at large. He's not a loud dog by nature, and unused to barking, but he offers a small yap to try and get her attention.]

Hallo! Can you hear me?

[Ammy barked, a sound that had startled all the dogs back home whenever she did it. Her tail wagged a little.

Yes, she could hear him.]

[He can already tell she isn't like the other animals he's met - this isn't just someone's pet. He wags his tail right back when she responds.]

Oh good. You ought to keep this little box thing with you. It's rather difficult to use, but it's terribly helpful if you'd like to speak to someone. Has it all been explained to you yet?

[No. Well...sort of, but not really. She knows it's called a communicator, but really that's about it.]

[OK then, let's say Chie jogs by, curious about the noise, but cautiously approaching. She knows there aren't usually any animals in the city unless they're monsters ... ]

A dog? No, a wolf.

If you've been given a communicator, you must be intelligent. Can you understand me?

If only Luke was awake....

[If only you were speaking Japanese, professor. Ammy can't understand a word that most of the residents are saying, much to her dismay.

She is starting to realize that most of the noise is coming from the little box thing now, and she nudges it with her nose.]

[She barks, incredibly startled. Wha-wh-what! It was magic!

Either that or this tiny box was like the equipment that Waka used. She snuffles excitedly at the communicator, trying to figure out how it did it.]
