Thanks so much for reading and commenting. I'm glad you enjoyed this chapter. Yes, Spike is a vampire and that means everything he does and says is colored by that. It's just who he is. He cares about Xander deeply, but as a demon, he displays that in a very extreme way.

Nice to see a new chapter. So Travers is playing with the voodoo like the Mayor huh. Hope he goes kablooey~ Can't really say I'm sad about Cromwell, but I do want to know what he found out and who killed him.

Yay for snarky & possessive Spike. All the same I'm glad I'm not in Xander's shoes. I would've got my teeth knocked down my throat already (as my mom used to threaten when I was being a smartass).

Thanks so much for reading and commenting. Yes, Travers is power hungry and is trying to attain it in a similar manner to the mayor in season three. Don't expect to see any giant snakes though haha. I hope he goes kablooey too, obviously, but we'll have to wait and see.

Cromwell - ugh. Yeah. His character is really tough because of what he did in the past. He couldn't ever be likable I don't think, not compared to genuinely good characters. But to be fair, he was put in a very difficult position from the start and there really was no good solution. Hopefully in his last act he did something to help redeem himself. And yes, it should be interesting to see who off-ed him.

Spike, Spike, Spike. We have to remember that he is a demon and so his reactions and displays of affection are affected by that. It's just part of who he is. Though - in Xander's case, I suspect he may be more bark than bite...figuratively haha. We'll have to wait and see. :)

"I think you'd be right astounded at the things a demon'd do to someone they loved." Eek, that's a very timely reminder for Xander of how dangerous Spike can be.

Interesting twist on canon with Travers looking for Ascension. I am curious if Julian is as fooled as Travers thinks he is, or if he is, how long it will take for the penny to drop.

Eek also for Cromwell. Much as he was an ass for his previous actions, he's been stuck between a rock and a hard place, so I only hope his last action keeping those books safe will help the good guys in the long term.

Nice chapter that leaves all sorts of questions!
