Darkness Beneath the City of Light

Here are a few decent photos of the few I could find online of the Parisian Catacombs, for those who asked for them. Bones from the emptied Paris cemeteries... Les Innocents, St. Nicolas des Champs, St. Laurent and bodies from the riots at the Place de Grève have all been moved to this underground crypt.
I believe my obsession with the catacombs comes from the fact that they are the one place in Paris I can go to be completely and entirely away from everything. Hundreds of miles of underground tunnels can keep me wandering all night long without encountering another soul. The piles of dusty bones only serve to remind me that rightfully, my own body should have been consigned these mass burial chambers so many years ago.
