Paulo hadn't been having an easy time at the Dojo. He's been avoiding Kazuma as much as the kid had been avoiding him. Which was really embarrassing when he thought about it. He was scared of a kid who was younger than him. But it wasn't entirely out of fear. It was guilt. He had lost control, he had been the one to give into his anger and Dark Evolved Breaker. And it was that mistake that cost Kazuma his partner in the first place. So yes, it was his fault. He couldn't deny that. But how was he supposed to talk to him about it? Hell being there the entire day with him had consisted on practice, keeping and eye out, and hiding whenever he was afraid Kazuma was going to see him

Suoh said nothing, but stood where he was after pushing Paulo as a sign that turning around and trying to run was not going to accepted. This needed to be resolved. Soon.

Kazuma turned and looked down at Paulo, his eyes flicking up to look at Suoh for a second before going back down to Paulo.

"You should be more careful," was all he said, tone dry and unamused. He stood as though he was going to get ready to leave, grabbing both his bag and the egg.

Paulo stood up and looked at Suoh for a moment before turning back to Kazuma when he spoke. He was just going to leave? Just like that? No. He couldn't let him go. It was now or never.

"W-Wait! Kazuma! C-Can we talk?"

[kazumaking]

Kazuma stopped, looking over his shoulder.

"... sure."

Paulo swallowed again, trying to dislodge that lump in his throat. He could feel his heart racing, his stomach doing flips. Here it was...now or never.

"I...I'm sorry. I...I fucked up and...it was all my fault..." His eyes drifted to that small amount of the egg in Kazuma's arms before looking back to the teen's face. "...I know it doesn't fix it...at all. But...I really am sorry..."

"... it doesn't," Kazuma said after a long pause, shifting the egg in his arms protectively. Oddly enough, he didn't sound angry. "But it's fine. Takamura-san explained what happened to you."

[somalihottie]

"...It doesn't make it an excuse. I still fucked up. Look...if you want to hit me. I'd get it. ...If it would make you feel better..."

[kazumaking]

"No, it's not an excuse. But hitting you isn't going to bring her back, Paulo," Kazuma said calmly. He should have been angry, but he wasn't. All this time he really hadn't been angry at all with Paulo, even before Suoh had explained to him what happened. Paulo had quite literally been paranoid for no viable reason.

Paulo was silent. He had no idea what else to say. What was there to say? He couldn't bring her back with words. It was impossible.

"...sorry I was such a crappy friend..."

Again, Kazuma sighed.

"You were. You should have told one of us."

Paulo started to shake. Fuck...not this again. "I...I didn't know how. How am I supposed to talk about something like this? I just...I just wanted it to go away..."

"I would have helped. Even if she looked like my mother, I'd have done something to save you from her..."

"I didn't want anyone else hurt. I...I didn't want anyone else to go through it."

[kazumaking]

"So you're just going to keep adding to your scars, and losing friends?" Kazuma asked. He didn't give Paulo a chance to respond. "That's stupid."

Paulo flinched, his hand going to his back where the new ones were. He had so many now...he was surprised Edaniel still liked how he looked.

"...I'm asking for help now...from Suoh-sensei and Alice-sensei..."

He stopped for a moment before saying the next thing. "...and...even if I don't deserve it...I could use your help too..."

Kazuma frowned a little, shifting on his feet and tilting his head to the side.

"... I'll help."
