STAGE ONE: Infiltration

It had been an easy effort to get inside the abandoned hospital that Finitevus had infiltrated. After Fate Testarossa had used a search to recon the area, they found the basement of the building was accessible from the Neon and Junk City tunnels. So, after making sure to search for and disable potential security measures, Touma and Gaomon emerged from the hatch on the lower floor.

"Everyone present and accounted for?" Touma replied, turning to make sure the entirety of the unit they'd assembled for the mission was still with them.

Quatre pulled himself up after Touma, followed shortly by Saghid. It was his first case back, but he wasn't nervous. He was too focused on it to feel nervous. It felt a bit like the war, just with different players. After all, how many times had they snuck into bases or control rooms or hangers? Checking his gun, he peered down the hallway both ways, naturally pressing his back against one wall. There was absolutely no cover where they were, but there didn't appear to be any cameras, unless they were hidden somehow.

"I don't see any cameras right here...but we should still be careful, and try not to make noise." He said in a whisper.

Haku was next up, a little more awkward at getting herself out of the hatch. She didn't make any more noise than the boys did, though, and once she was standing she looked for all the world like she was confident and ready for whatever was going to come. Phasco was on her shoulder, surprisingly awake but quiet

Chika came up at the rear of the little group, pushing herself up and onto the floor, then grasping onto Piyomon's talons and pulling him up with her. Piyomon could have flown up, but the risk of him making too much noise was very much there. So, they opted for this

Touma nodded, and activated his D-Comm's holographic display. "Captain Testarossa's recon showed this building has at least six floors... unfortunately, it was unable to detect where Finitevus is holed up in. We need to search, quietly, and avoid any security patrols."

"Should we split up, of stay together?" Quatre asked. With the pilots they would have split up without question, it was much easier to cover more ground that way. "If we have two teams they can each take three floors, and keep in contact with our comms."

"I'm not sure about splitting u--..." Haku started to answer, cutting her words short when she heard something to their right. It was far enough away, and quiet enough that it could have just been a coincidental sound of the building, but ignoring it would have been stupid.

"... I hear something," she whispered sharply, moving to the front to poke her head around the corner.

Chika stayed where she was, keeping an eye on her teammates, but most of all Haku. Piyomon's eyes narrowed as he stood defensively next to Chika, ready to attack if need be.

Chika's own eyes narrowed. She didn't want an attack to happen this early into the mission, and she was sure that none of her other teammates wanted that either.

The noise slowly grew louder, a light appearing around the corner at the end of the hall. The light bobbed up and down with the guard's movement, though the person themselves could not be seen. There was a grunt as the guard stopped and a voice could be heard. From the sounds of it, they weren't alone and they were not happy

"... We stay together," Touma said, once it could be sure that the guards had passed on. "Our team isn't really optimized for splitting into groups anyway; furthermore, Onizuka-san needs to be on hand when we find him."

Gaomon, who had gotten a look at the hallway, came back. "The hallways are pretty straightforward... I say we move one by one, and stop at corners."

Touma nodded. "That minimizes the entire group's chance to be found at once, and lets us watch our backs while we get a look forward. All in favor?"

Looking at the other three tamers and their digimon, Quatre nodded. He didn't agree per-se, but then he also was not in charge of this mission. Touma was. Nervousness began to crawl into the back of his mind. Back home, he'd known at least the motivations of his team members, if not been able to predict them fairly well. With this group he had no idea. Actually he had no idea what the other three's specializations were, or in Haku's case, what her combat background really was.

He took a deep breath to calm his nerves. Touma knew what he was doing. He'd been working with his digimon for years. Chika as well. And Haku could handle herself just fine. Even if one of them were spotted, they would be able to handle it.

"Haku, can you get heat readings with your visor? If he is using power and it sounds as he is, its got give out some heat reading. We could try and pin point him with that, as well as any other guards."

Haku wanted to let out a sigh of relief when the guards had gone the other direction, but she was stuck on what they had been discussing. Even if the others hadn't heard it, her ears picked up the conversation loud and clear, and it drove a further sense of dread in to her heart. She was still staring where the light had been, a strange look in her eyes and one fist clenched at her side. She could hear Touma and Quatre speaking, but for some reason it wasn't registering right then.

He makes Sai-kun sing... Finitevus, what are you doing to him? Why would you want him to sing... ?It took Phasco tugging on her ear to get her attention back to the situation at hand, luckily just in time to focus on the tail end of what Quatre was requesting of her

Chika let out a small groan at that. Okay, so this was going to be difficult. Between guards and having to sneak around and find what they were looking for ... yeah.

Piyomon tapped Chika gently with a talon, causing her to look back at him with a tiny glare. Piyomon only shook his head.

Patience. No complaints. That's what he was saying, and she knew it. Chika rolled her eyes and nodded at him. She turned her attention back toward the group.

"Best get going with it when we can, then," she whispered.

"... Well, we do have one advantage," Touma said, quieltly. Then he turned towards Gaomon.

Gaomon nodded. "Yes, Master," the blue hound stated, and... He closed his eyes, sniffing the air.

"... There is no scent of anything like Finitevus down here," he said. "But I probably guide us to the nearest lift or staircase."

Touma nodded. "Very well. Saghid," he said to Quatre's partner, "I want you to back Gaomon up on this; you're both Beast digimon, so you should be able to pick up a scent as well..."

As he said this, he put a hand on Haku's shoulder, patting it gently. Beyond that, he gave no other indication of noticing her reaction... Just a quick, small attempt at being reassuring.

Saghid glared at Touma for a moment. He didn't like being ordered around by other tamers. Kneeling down, Quatre placed a hand on Saghid's head, in an attempt to stem any problems before they could start. The lion digimon leaned into the contact and looked up at him before nodding slightly.
