The medics had put Quatre onto a proper stretcher and rolled him into the back of the ambulance. They sped off to the hospital, replacing the tourniquets with rubber tubing, and using fresh gauze on the wounds. They paged the hospital ahead of them and requested the supplies for a blood transfusion be set up, then worked on keeping what blood he had left from bleeding out. His heart rate kept increasing and they increased the pressure on the wounds. By the time they got to the hospital his heart rate was high, but it was steady. Though they were keeping a mobile paddle unit with them as they took him out of the ambulance. They wheeled him into the emergency room and began to unwrap the bandages and pull the skin and muscle over the exposed bone and sew it shut. Then the stumps were re-bandaged and his clothes were removed and replaced with a hospital gown.
As soon as that was complete they began the blood transfusion, and put an IV in his arm, then moved Quatre from the emergency room to the ICU. An hour after he'd been brought to the hospital, they attempted to wake him, but only received a groggy, pained few moans. Once it was decided that he wasn't rejecting the transfusion, and that the bleeding had been successfully stopped, they started him on pain killers. The transfusion finished after four hours and his bandages were changed. They tried to wake him up again and got a more coherent response from him and decided it would be okay for him to have visitors.
The doctor found his friends in the waiting room, where they had been waiting for nearly five hours. "Excuse me, but Mr. Winner can see you now. He is however not completely coherent, so please do not excite him. So long as you follow that rule you are welcome to stay with him."
