Who: Haku, Duo, open after the first few tags What: It's a small crime and I've got no excuse When: Morning, February 8th, 2011 [frontdate] Where: DATS Neon
Duo's presence was pretty common around either DATS location. He was usually bothering Quatre these days, but he still went to see Haku on occasion, usually to shoot the breeze and/or torment her like a good 'little brother'.
Today was slightly different, though. He'd gone by Jake's shop to say hello before heading to work, but the entire place was closed up, dark and empty as though no one had even gone in to turn the lights on. That was confusing, but what was even more confusing was when he called Rei, the groggy, barely awake Hawaiian said that it was her day off and Jake should have opened with Paulo. Calling Paulo got an answer of "Jake never showed, so I just went home".
Something about it just wasn't sitting right with Duo. The only other person who knew Jake as well as the rest of them was Haku. He figured work could wait, and headed to the Neon City branch of DATS, getting his usual visitor's pass from the front desk and heading back in to the garage.
"Hey, 'ku, uhm... any idea where Jake is? 'cause his shop is completely closed like he hasn't even been there," he called out as he walked in, seeing a car in the bay, "Paulo said he never showed and-- ... wow. You look like hell."
Haku's tired red eyes barely moved to look at Duo. She shook her head a little, but didn't say anything. She couldn't tell him any more than she could tell her family.
"Did you get enough sleep last night? You look..."
Duo's words trailed off, all joking put aside when he finally recognized what he was seeing. She wasn't tired, she was in shock. Mild enough that she still had the mind to come to work, but not so much that she was capable of thinking straight enough to work.
Something had happened.
"Haku, what's wrong?" he asked, tone changing to worry. He reached forward, intending to grab her shoulders and give her a shake, but stopping when he saw the strange indentations on her wrists. His hand moved down, gently taking hers and lifting it to see. "... you're damaged."
She winced slightly at the movement, his touch inadvertently causing pain to the broken nerve receptors there. She still didn't say anything, though, gaze shifting away from Duo and to the floor.
Tears stung in her eyes again, but they didn't fall. She didn't want them to anyway. She was already emotionally drained as it was.
Duo didn't like this at all. He remembered how she had been after Onizuka's accident, and this was nearly as bad. Whatever had happened put her in such a state that she wasn't even capable of taking care of herself.
He frowned worriedly at the android, carefully looking over the damage as a sick feeling started to pull at his stomach. He lifted her arm so her palm was facing outward, holding it up by her elbow with one hand while his other moved over the dented area. It didn't take much to figure out that she had been held forcibly by both wrists by some one stronger than her.
"Jesus..." Duo swore sharply under his breath. Taking her arm above the wrist, he pulled her away from the car, giving her a quick but comforting hug before tugging her to her office.
"I'm gonna see if there's some one here who can help you," he told the silent Vocaloid as he forced her to sit in her office chair. She complied quietly, but Duo wasn't exactly expecting resistance from her at this point. "Just... stay here. I'll be back."
With that, he departed quickly, running back out to the main building to see if anyone was around that could possibly fix Haku before she let her injuries linger any longer.
As it happened EVE was hovering about in the lounge cleaning things idly. There was so much time in the day when you only needed a couple hours of charge time.
Duo ran right by the lounge, but stopped and doubled back. He had seen the little robot around the garage plenty of times, but damned if he couldn't remember a name right then.
Still, it was some one who could help, and he wasn't going to let something like a lapse of memory stop him.
EVE's screen blinked and she turned and hovered over to Duo. "Haku." She stated plainly and nodded in agreement. She rather liked Haku though she still didn't understand why she was so emotional all the time.
"Repair?" Her mechanic voice took on faint concern and she brushed past Duo hovering towards Haku's office. "Damage? Danger?" A bot of action EVE wasn't about to waste a moment. If she couldn't help Haku she'd call someone in who could. Haku had an emergency contact list right?
"I found her like this... only she was over at a car when I came in," Duo explained, moving past EVE in the office to get over to Haku's side. She still wasn't responding, so he took her hand again, showing the damage to EVE.
"See? Her back got it, too," he told her, scowling a little. "Some one did this to her, but she won't tell me who."
EVE instantly took the hand from Duo and examined it, pop up menus running down a list of damaged components and what she would need to fix or replace them with as well as how many the shop had in stock.
Looking into Haku's eyes she tried again. "Haku? Damage?" when no response came immediately she became more concerned. With hardware issues she could handle things but Software was more difficult. She'd discovered that with WALL-E.

She wasn't going to say, no matter how many times anyone asked, but she at least had enough of her senses about her to realize she needed repairs.

"She's not in trouble now! I think... something happened to her, and she won't tell me what. But her wrists and back are dented..."
Haku was still where Duo had made her sit, staring at the floor with her hands in her lap. She didn't look up when EVE entered.

"Reboot?" She asked prodding Haku's cheek gently.
