What: The birth of a Vocaloid
When: December 1st, 2010, evening
Where: DATS Neon, Garage
Numbers ran rapidly over Haku's VR visor, several cords and wires attached to the open chest plate of Haku and Jade's little "project". Of course the project had a name now - Hanako Toune - and Haku had already started referring to her as Hanako, but it didn't stop her from being nervous and worried about the entire thing. She had already triple checked all the numbers to make absolutely sure, but she was going through yet another diagnostic.
She knew there was nothing wrong, that it was basically all... perfect. She should have been activated two days ago, even, but Haku just couldn't bring herself to press the button that would bring the brand new, made-in-the-digital-world Vocaloid to life. She just kept staring at that sleep-like face that was bowed just so with her body propped up on the vertical table, brushing pale hair back and worriedly pacing back and forth, trying to convince herself to just... do it.
It was late. Most of DATS had gone home for the night already, and the garage was quiet. Haku had done this three nights in a row now, and every night she'd eventually left, turning the lights off and leaving Hanako in the same state.
I don't want to be wrong... but if I don't do it, she's never going to get activated. I've repaired our own a hundred times now. Its now or never...
"Okay, Hanako..." Haku finally sighed to the quiet garage air, "Ready or not, here we go..."
