Lorne's red eyes snapped open and sat up so sharply he smacked his head on the desk, "OW!" He moaned rubbing right between his horns. "Oh gods and broadway Goblimon I swore I just heard someone I really didn't want to...hear." He blinked again and realized he was looking into the eyes of a Picodevimon instead.
"I'm back here Lorne." Goblimon noted lighting a smoke.
Lorne blinked once...twice...three times and then laughed uncomfortably.
"He sounds like Knox...you...why do you sound like Knox?" Lorne's perfect hearing had never failed him before and it was of astronomical odds that someone would have the exact same voice...but Lorne wasn't about to let his new perfect life come to the admission that one of his least favorite humans was in this world.
The Picodevimon laughed before stopping, realizing Lorne's tone of voice and his own uncomfortable laugh.
"Lorne...I am Knox. It's me! I'm a Demidevimon now." The digimon extended its wings as it refereed to itself and smiled. Knox seemed to be all too happy to be a digimon now.
Lorne was silent for a moment prompting Goblimon to tug at his coat, "Uh...Lorne? You alright buddy?"
"Knox!" Lorne's voice was welcoming and cheerful a smile showing entirely too much teeth, "Tell me ole buddy ole pal ole knock knock Knox...what's the last thing you remember?"
Knox tilted his...well entire body at the question.
"What I remember last? Well, I was helping my god raise her army, Angel came in and started some epic speech. It was quite moving actually. I didn't get to hear the end of it though. Wesley shot me. That's about the last thing I remember before being here."
Lorne's smile never wavered, "That's what I thought.
And then he hauled back and slammed his green fist right into Knox's face/body as hard as he could...which for a dedicated pacifist like Lorne was surprisingly hard.
And Knox, being fairly light and not expecting to be hit, flew off the counter and bounced into the ground. The small digimon didn't know how to react. He laid there, staring up in the ceiling in a daze. And due to this daze, he said something that really wasn't the best thing to say at this time.
"I guess you haven't forgiven me for Fred yet, huh?"
"Lorne?!" Goblimon yelped as the Green demon trotted around the check out counter and took a sturdy kick for the small winged Digimon, "That's a no there Knock knock." His voice had lost any hint of humor or good nature. "Don't get me wrong I'm a big fan of Angelcakes and his plans but frankly I think Wesley had the right idea."
"Lorne...you want I should give you a hand?" Goblimon had drawn out his bone club and was tapping it menacingly on his hand.
"Nah, but pass me the bone, I've got some catching up to do with my old co-worker!" His eyes blazed with an uncharacteristic anger.
The small digimon was hit by the kick and rolled until he hit a wall. He looked up at Lorne with fear.
"But...I...she was the only one who was worthy. I loved her. I really did!" Knox knew he was trapped here. There was no way for him to get out of this himself. Luckily for the little bastard he wasn't alone. It was just then that the door opened and someone stepped into the hotel lobby. Taking one look at the situation before her, she knew what was happening.
Lorne froze feeling his blood turn to ice in his veins.
"Right...partner. Of coarse She's Your partner." He muttered dropping the bone back into Goblimon's hands and spinning around to face the woman he'd left behind twice.
"Well if it isn't the ghost of bookworms and elder gods past! How long have you been in town?" His fake cheer was back on full tilt pretending that he hadn't just been smacking around her Digimon.
Illyria walked over towards Lorne. She stopped just before him and quickly bent down, picking up the beaten Knox.
"I arrived merely yesterday. I came to hear from one knows as Katherine Simmons that this is your domain. I require quarters and I know of no one else in this world."
Illyria looks from Knox to Lorne.
"I require your assistance. This world is as foreign to me as the last one."
Lorne felt his heart ripping in two. It was all he could do to keep from hiding in his office for the rest of his unnatural life.
The Hyperion hotel had been named for the same hotel that Lorne had called home after his beloved bar had been destroyed twice. When he came to the Digital world he'd been hoping for a happier ending for both the hotel and bar.
He didn't talk much about his life back home because things didn't end well there and now here was his old life coming back to haunt him.
"Of coarse, My hotel is home to all comers!" He smiled and led the way back to the check in desk, "There are of coarse some rules to follow. How much do you know about this world?" A particularly cheerful thought danced across his mind. As powerful as Illyria had been back home Lorne's partner could in fact be stronger.
Illyria followed Lorne to the desk, still holding the hurt Knox. The Qwa Ha Xahn was confused as to why his god wasn't destroying Lorne for what he had done to him.
"I know of little. A being known as Yggdrasil brought me here at an inopportune time for myself. I cannot get back. My powers are weakened here as well. Digimon and Humans cover this world, as well as other creatures. And once again I have no place in this world. As for your rules, I will do for you as I did with Wesley. I will not kill unless justified. I will not seek to conquer your domain and shall live here peacefully. I will even help protect your domain from intruders. I was told this city has much crime. I will lend you my power in exchange for quarters. Does this bargain please you?"
"Sounds like a winning strategy for me." Lorne remarked with relief in his voice, "There are alot of good people here and only a few of them are fighters. Speaking of which." He pressed a button on his D-comm "Sarasim, can I have you meet me in the lobby? We have a new guest."
After getting confirmation he turned back to Illyria, "Sarasim's the head of security for our hotel. A good person, strong and dedicated. Alot like Angelcakes but less about planning."
"Boss! I found it! In here!" A Demidevimon flew in through the door and landed on the front desk.
"Hello Lorne! Wake up sleepy head!" the Demidevimon said in a cheerful voice. A voice Lorne was sure to recognize as belonging to Knox.

"You okay there? Looks like you hit your head pretty hard," Again, as the digimon spoke, Knox's voice came out of the small creatures mouth.
