Who: The Crew of the Claudia
What: Beginning the air campaign against the Tetha Navy
When: Monday, September 20th, Midday
Where: Tetha Airspace
Tetha's navy had been on alert ever since the army's firebase destroyed the Royal Base. This meant that the vessels that made up the Navy had been on maneuvers. However, they were the only aerial navy of note in the Digital World, and to an experienced sailor, it showed.
Gilder had been a pirate facing off against the Valuan armada for all of his adult life, and a good portion of his childhood as well. He'd been reading fleet movements, gauging their strengths and prying their weaknesses out of the slightest flickers of movement on a single ship's deck. This navy, cobbled together from stolen ships in mere months, was easy prey. At least, that was what his instincts told him. He knew better than to count the plunder before they had it.
The weather had been good, the ocean beneath them had provided a nice head of clouds. From within a cloud bank, the Claudia had been shadowing a Tethan corvette for much of the morning. It had been long enough, Gilder thought, and at his urging, the Claudia's sails unfurled fully and she pulled out of the clouds ominously. Her Jolly Roger flew high on her mast, proudly showing her colors, and there was no mistaking her intentions.
She was a pirate vessel, and the corvette was her plunder. And with her flag flying, that meant the other ship was already in range. With a height advantage, Gilder's order to fire sent a volley of cannon balls hurling through the air towards the other ship.
The chaos of the following seconds was a sight to behold, one that Gilder savored as he swept the Claudia through the air. The digimon aboard the other ship flooded the deck, and their guns deployed uselessly. With the height advantage, the Claudia was safe from the ship's guns, at least for now. The new threat would be any perfects that the opposing ship's captain could muster on the deck. With first blood drawn, evidenced by several gaping holes in the other ship's hull, it was now time to neutralize that threat.
"BOARDERS! Get ready!" he announced. "Let's tie them up! Once the lines are secure, get down there and raise hell!"
A cheer went up from Gilder's crew, and several harpoons were launched from the Claudia's guns. They slammed into the other ship, locking the two together by strong lines, and Gilder smirked. "ATTACK!" he ordered. His crew began to swing over to the other ship. The sound of gunfire and attacks launching filled the air, and Gilder turned his head to look behind him to his team leaders. "Just a few more seconds, you two ready?"
"Ready and waiting, captain!" Vyse said, flashing Gilder a thumbs up.
"I've been ready since this morning!" Aika added, leaning on the railing of the ship and looking down at the Tethan vessel with a rope in her hand.
"Good," Gilder said, gripping the Claudia's wheel and looking back to his watchman. At the watchman's signal, Gilder turned his head once more and yelled "LAUNCH!"
