"You really can call me Daniel, Rei."
There was a sharp sigh from the Asian girl. She looked up from the pile of spare parts she was digging through at the moment and fixed Daniel with a slightly irritated stare. He'd agreed to come with her to Junk City while Mitch was stuck at work mainly because she needed the parts, but she also needed protection (though their partners weren't too far away, keeping a look out), but it had given Rei an excuse to relay her talk from Miria from a few days ago.
She was already irritated that Mitch was suddenly so gun-ho to run off to various places in the Digital World now that he'd met Daniel, but more than anything she was worried for his safety.
And of course Rei being Rei, that meant she was pissed off. At least for the moment.
"All I'm saying is, Daniel... when things in Tetha blow over you two can go gallivanting off to whatever ruins you want to, but for now... could you please stop putting ideas in Michi-kun's head?"
Sheepishly, Daniel smiled and rubbed the back of his head a bit.
"Sorry... I admit, I got kind of... school-boy excited over the prospect that there was another archeologist-type out there. Don't worry, we can stick to the library for now."
Rei finally smiled back, letting out a relieved breath and turning back to her digging.
"Thank you..."
"Hey, I know how much you care about him. I wouldn't be dumb enough to take that away from you."
Their conversation continued, Hargurumon and Teal'c still some distance away, and the two tamers unaware that they weren't the only ones in the area right then.

"Maybe we should let them know we don't appreciate it." Another Tailmon remarked looking up at their leader.
The leader of this particular group, a strapping young Leomon grinned and drew back his fist, "FIST OF THE BEAST KING!" he roared sending the blast of energy at the tamers.

"What was that--?!" Rei cut herself off, looking past Daniel's shoulder at the approaching digimon. "... iya..."

"Maybe you didn't get the message...but Junk City belongs to Bloodclan and you're trespassing." taunted one of the Tailmon.

"Reiko, be quiet," he hissed in Japanese at her, standing and shoving her back behind him. She was less than pleased, but kept her irritation to a low growl.
"We're sorry. We were just looking for spare parts. We'll leave peacefully, this doesn't have to get violent."

"Oh I don't think you understand, under Bloodclan law you get no warnings."
And just to emphasize that a Liamon roared, "Thunder of the King!" And lightning shot at the trio crackling through the heated air.

"Kokami! LOLOS! Hehena huki'inos! Honi ko'u 'elemu! I'll hou'o you in to next week you--!"
She was cut off only by the fact that the older man was now dragging her back by her waist, a hand on her mouth even as she continued to rant and rave.
"Reiko, SHUT. UP. You are going to get us killed!"
"MMF!"
Obviously she didn't care.

"Who cares, once we knock some teeth out she won't be so lippy!"
The sound of scattering junk served as a warning that the gang was making their way towards the heroes with maiming in mind, but what wasn't warned was a pair of Tailmon thrown over the junk heap by a larger Leomon.
"Neko punch!"
"Neko Kick!"

For the moment, though, he settled with just picking her up in his arms (despite her very loud protesting) and making a run for it, just narrowly missing the attacks hitting their previous hiding place.
"TEAL'C!" he yelled out for his partner, grateful to find that he and Hargurumon were already running for them.
"Go, Daniel Jackson! We will handle this!"
Daniel nodded and tore past both of them as they skidded to a halt in front of their attackers, both unleashing low level attacks on the cats.

Meanwhile if Daniel wasn't paying attention he might not notice a pair of Tailmon pulling tight a chain at perfect level to trip him!

Rei had noticed, but her cry came too late, and Daniel's foot struck the chain, tripping him and sending both of them to the ground. Grip lost on Rei, she tumbled out of his arms hard, rolling several feet away and dazed from a light knock to her head.
Groaning at the sudden pain running up his leg, Daniel looked up, seeing Tailmon on either side of him.
"Shit..."

And yet even more went for Rei, a Leormon pouncing on her where she landed trying to pin her as another Tailmon did her best to make eye contact, "I always wanted to try this move on a human." She purred, "Cat's Eye!" The felines eyes began glowing hotly.

Daniel was less than successful, and even though he did manage a very quick spin-kick to get himself in to a crouched position and avoid most of the punches (a few did hit, but not enough to render him unconscious) he was too late to stop the Tailmon that was in front of Rei. Still dizzy, the girl couldn't help looking at the digimon directly, instantly falling under the spell.
"REI!"

The Leormon crawled off Rei and the Tailmon turned pointing to Daniel, "Go on then girlie, why don't you show us how well you can fight!"

Rei got to her feet, wavering a bit before straightening completely, staring at Daniel with frighteningly blank eyes through her messy bangs.
"Reiko..."
Rei didn't seem to hear him, and within seconds she was charging forward, lashing out at him with fists and feet, surprisingly agile, and a lot stronger than he would have pegged her for. Some of the blows that landed, the ones he didn't dodge and the ones that he blocked, actually hurt, and what was worse, he knew he would have difficult subduing her without injuring her.
"Reiko, STOP! Wake up!"

One even threw the chain they'd used earlier out onto the field to see if either one would use it...or trip on it. The Tailmon didn't care.
