Ruki was, unfortunately, finding any number of sources for irritation in this world. This, however... she was not entirely sure how to take. The mother she had left in her world WASN'T the one that was here, and... well, wrapping one's brain around that certainly took a moment.

Renamon trailing silently behind her, she arrived at the woman's office, knocking on the door. "Hello?"

Rumiko was snapped out of her contemplation by the sound of Ruki's voice. Shooting Seiko a nervous glance, she got up, and opened the door.

"Ruki..." she breathed, staring.

Ruki stared also. This was ... undeniably surreal. She paid brief mind to the Kudamon, but focused mainly on her mother. It certainly... LOOKED like Makino Rumiko...

Not that she doubted she WOULD. It was just a very... strange moment, on top of a series of strange moments.

"...hello," she repeated, now as more of a statement.

No sooner than the words came out of Ruki's mouth did Rumiko reach out and pull her daughter into a hug.

Seeing her in front of her, like this... timelines and dimensions and whatever...

... this was Ruki. Her little girl. Nothing else really mattered.

Ruki gave a slight gasp, and... well, just sort of stood there for several moments. She didn't really know WHAT to say or do there.

Sure, she COULD hug her back, but...

At that precise moment, she was still a bit dumbfounded.

Rumiko pulled back, after a few moments, looking somewhat embarassed.

"I... I'm sorry," she said quietly.

While Renamon managed to stare off somewhat awkwardly in another direction, Ruki stared down, her face flushing a bit.

"It's ... fine," she muttered, taking a step around the woman. "It's just a bit... weird, here..."

"I imagine," Rumiko replied with a sigh. "Why... why don't you and Rena-chan come in and have a seat...?"

Ruki sighed, tentatively stepping further inside the room. Renamon followed her, nodding politely to Rumiko.

"Thank you," said the Digimon.

Ruki crossed her arms, and focused her gaze on the Kudamon. "So... you're..."

"Call me Seiko-chan," beamed the Kudamon. "Rumiko named me after her dear mother... it's such a pleasure to meet you both!"

Ruki ... stared. "She .. named you after..."

She blinked a bit, and silently sat down, while Renamon stood behind her.

"...huh."

The redhead shook her head, and looked back at the older woman. "This just gets WEIRDER... Um, how long HAVE you been here...?"

"Over two years," said Rumiko, as she pulled up a chair for Ruki. "Why don't you sit down... and... I'll tell you everything?"

Ruki studied her for a moment. That was certainly a long time... and yet she had left her own mother just mere hours ago...

"Okay... go ahead, then."

Rumiko took a deep breath... and began to tell Ruki her story. About her first few months in the digital world, getting to know Sayuri and her family, as well as Rentarou Satsuma. She told the girl about her superior's involvement with Lillithmon, and the aftermath... which led to the budding relationship between them.

She told Ruki about Kurata's invasion. About the times she and Seiko had to fight.

How she had resolved to do what she could, as a member of DATS, and the reason why she had joined them.

And she told her about the events leading to her current engagement.

"... and that's... well, that's the extent of it..." she said, quietly.

Ruki squirmed in her seat a tad as Rumiko recanted the story. This wasn't HER mother... or, well, not her world's VERSION of her, but hearing everything that had happened and she had been through... She did feel just the slightest bit of guilt and responsibility, even if she knew it was all out of her hands.

"...I see," she said softly, staring at the floor. "Then I guess everything I've got to do here is pretty clear..."

"... It's not... it's not all on your shoulders Ruki... you have so many here who'd be willing to support you..."

Rumiko looked down.

"Including... family, if you want it..."
