Artemis caught sight of Jinx entering the dark alley and smiled to himself for a moment. Showtime. He thought, before holding back a groan at such a cliche mental comment.
He, of course, wasn't about to let himself be given away that easily, otherwise what would have been the purpose of sending an anonymous note? Nor was he feeling inclined to walk out of the shadows and declare his whereabouts lest he feel like receiving a large impact to the head by some stylish purple heels.
"I'm so glad you could make it." He spoke with a false german accent, at least, he knew it was false. Speaking german like a natural helped you develop a natural sounding accent. "Not feeling nervous, are we?"
"Do I look like the type to be put off by something like this?" Jinx countered sounding confident and solid. Her voice, her stance, every bit calculated to give the perfect appearance. She felt obvious standing in the entrance to the alley, her shadow leading her deeper into the darkness.
"Now, now, let's not get defensive." There was a hint of amusement in his voice. "Didn't I say we were here for conversation?" He decided to keep himself hidden until he had enough to make sure she wouldn't come running at him the moment he appeared.
"Pardon my rudeness." She softened her tone, but was still suspicious, "So let's talk then." She stood halfway into the alley and listened not just for the voice, but for someone creeping up behind her.
Artemis had no intention of creeping up behind Jinx, he knew better than to startle spunky, acrobatically gifted women, he just continued to speak, words heavy with his false accent. "I thought it was about time I contacted a person who'd sparked my interests." His lips were curling again. "Perhaps you've heard of them? They go by the name of M. Desadae." His tone of voice made it obvious to what he was implying.
Jinx's face was cool and emotionless though in her chest her heart gave a flip. "Faced off with the Kaitou Kid several times last year, vanished around the same time he stopped pulling heists." She listed, "As a former thief I pay attention."
"Ah yes, poor thing. She really did take a nasty tumble when they both went after that gem, didn't she?" To took a step closer, he was still out of view but he was preparing himself, hoping she'd picked up his subtle hint.
Jinx's eyes narrowed but she kept her tone cool and light, "You mean the rumor that the Kid shoved her off a roof just for a rock? I don't believe that. The Kid isn't a murderer."
Though the truth of the matter was he had done exactly that to Jinx due to being overwhelmed by his greed seal. That was the night he had come clean with her about being demon sealed, the night she swore to help him stay out of trouble.
If this person knew all of that...could he know who the Kid was?
"No, not a murderer, since she survived. But oh, such a fall. It must have been so painful. It sure seemed to be. But I'm sure you're aware of that, aren't you Jinx?" He made sure his hood was covering his face properly, he was getting that smug, giddy feeling he often got when outwitting someone.
Jinx continued in a fashion, keeping the game going "I only know what the rumors are, sounds like you've got the inside story though." She peered through the darkness but even her own sharp gaze couldn't decern who was standing before her.
Artemis chuckled and stepped forward, face hidden, hands pushed into the pocket of his hoodie, he looked like a typical youth, which was good, his own personal look was too distinguishing. "Now, now, Jinx. Let's not play dumb, shall we? Or does M. Desadae always style their hair into fluffy pink horns under that mask?"
For some people, smaller figures wouldn't pose as much of a threat to, but Jinx was smarter then that. Gizmo was relatively runty but by far one of the most dangerous kids she knew.
"Figure out what the name stands for yet?" She asked her voice as sharp and thin as a razor.
Artemis didn't bother feeling upset about the tone she was using with him. "Ah yes, quite like you to pick one of historys most famous 'adult fiction' writers." He took another step forward, being warying, afterall, there was no way Artemis could hold his own in any kind of fight.
"No one else bothered to pick apart the name, probably because M wasn't hurting anything, so what struck your interest?" She inquired taking a more relaxed stance, he had opened with what he knew, that could mean a number of things but the most likely so far was that he wanted her to know what he had on her, meaning he probably wanted something.
Artemis had gotten enough out of her. If he wanted to move forward something would have to be done. He couldn't strike a deal if she didn't trust him.
He walked towards her, hands pulled out of his pockets, displaying his open palms both in a friendly gesture and to emphasize his own words. "Why, it's because I'm a firm believer of the old term 'such talents shouldn't be squandered'." Artemis dropped the accent midway through his sentence.
He stopped just infront of her, tipping the edge of his hood up just enough so that she would see his face, his mismatched eyes flashing mischievously. Then brought a finger to his lips before she could speak, still smirking. "Good evening, Miss Jinx."
