Who: X, Vile, Omega, and partners
What: A day X should have just stayed in bed.
When: February 5th, late afternoon, Backdated
Where: Junk City, warehouse district
X had needed some time to think. Back home, he might have gone for a ride on his chaser to clear his head and think. But he didn't have a chaser here... at least, not a working one. So instead, he'd gone to Junk City to work on said not-working ride chaser in the warehouse work space he was renting.
Hours later, the chaser was still not working - there was a problem with the plasma generator in the engine - but it had given him time to think while his hands were busy. They were not happy thoughts.
To say X was worried about this rash of attacks on Tamers would be an understatement. It was deeply troubling, and it scared him that so many people were being targetted - and by so many different assailants - all at the same time.
It indicated a widespread level of cooperation among the shadier and criminal types, as well as someone, or some group, with very deep pockets and a great deal of resources to be able to entice or coerce so many to go after tamers all around the same time. Especially tamers with a record of combat skill and capability like many members of DATS. Generally, for someone to criminally attack a dangerous target, it either has to be personal, the attacker is a fanatic or even crazed, or there's a very big payoff for doing so. Considering how many attacks there had been, the last option seemed most likely.
Unfortunately, he was no closer now to narrowing down the power behind the attacks than he had been that morning.
Realizing how late it was getting, X closed and locked up the workshop before heading out with Veemon. After helping X all afternoon tinker with the ride chaser, Veemon was more than pleased with X's idea to stop and grab a bite to eat.
They headed out on foot heading for a pizza place that had re-opened just recently after being rebuilt. After a few blocks, they had to skirt around a reconstruction zone on the way there, though.
Veemon was walking a little bit ahead of X, his arms folded behind his head as he eyed the construction site alongside the street. He glanced back toward X. "Come ooon, X! Hurry up!"
X laughed softly. "Relax, I'm sure the pizza place will still be standing by the time we get there."
"But, I'm starving!" Veemon whined, hoping X would pick up the pace.
