Who: Mion and Konata, Impmon and Vi What: Training. Actual training, ya know. Instead of gaming sessions. When: October 31st, 2009, afternoon, after this thread. Where: The Royal Base, Honeyfields
"Yeah~!" Konata joined in the fist-pumping. To be honest, she hadn't actually participated in any of Mion's training sessions yet- at least, not as a direct participant- so Konata WAS looking forward to it. She hadn't had much of a chance to use her digi-soul (which was just as well, because Konata didn't really know how to WIELD it). "So? When does the training montage start?"
"Oi, oi," Vi grumbled. "You'll be participating too, so don't get any weird ideas." The blue fox-rabbit-lizard looked at Impmon. "So... you versus me, and Konata spars with Mion?"
Mion closed her eyes for a moment and then summoned her glowing green digisoul sword. Really, she was getting quite good at that. She smirked. "It begins as soon as you're ready, Konata."
Impmon rolled his eyes. "Yeah, yeah, don't nag! I know, I know." He sighed and stretched a little, cracking his knuckles. "...Sounds about right. Who's attacking first?"
Konata was still blinking when Mion drew her sword. "Heh?" (Whoa, wait, time out! When'd she get so fast!?) she thought, feeling a twinge of envy. (... well, this IS kind of like what happens when your friend practices a fighting game longer than you have, huh...)
Konata stopped staring and snapped back into reality. "Of course I'm ready!" she huffed, scowling a bit at Mion's smirk. She paused for a second, trying to concentrate. "... well, y'know, I'll be ready in a little bit," she added, closing her eyes.
A few MORE moments passed before Konata yelled "LEVAKEN!!" and summoned her own digisoul sword. In addition to being aqua-blue, her weapon was shaped more like a traditional broadsword than anything remotely Japanese. Konata opened her eyes and grinned at Mion. "Hmhmhm... ready!"
Vi-Elecmon shrugged calmly. "I'll get us started." Before Impmon could say anything else, her tails fanned out and began channeling electricity- before firing a small bolt of lightning at Impmon. "JAMMING THUNDER!"
Mion's jaw dropped. Konata could create a sword like that? Amazing! Her shock remained for only a brief second, though - no, she wouldn't let her friend stand her up. "Well, then..." A grin spread across her face. "START!"
She ran at Konata, her digisoul katana glowing brighter as she swung.
As for Impmon's fight? Well, he yelped shouted in a deep manly baritone and held out his hands. "S-SUMMON!" This created a ball of fire and ice that rose in front of him...and served as a shield to the Jamming Thunder. The Summon attack burst into tiny ice crystals and little balls of fire, but Impmon remained unscathed. "...S-sneaky little..."
If this had actually been an anime, Konata would've executed a flawless parry, her digisoul blade locking with Mion's and shooting sparks every which way. The two unlikely friends would've grinned at each other, their hearts singing with the thrill of the fight and the contest of pure skill, and so on and so forth.
"NNWHOA!" ... instead, Konata ducked, backpedaled, and all but hurled herself to the side to dodge Mion's strike. The otaku WAS naturally athletic and fast on her feet... though this was more than balanced out by the fact that her movements were still ungainly, unpracticed, and unskilled.
Konata regained her balance and turned to face Mion. "R-Right, attacking, attacking..." She took her digisoul Levaken in both hands, jumped forward, and took an easily predictable horizontal swing at Mion. "FU-MO-FFU!!"
"Sneaky?" Vi-Elecmon snorted, her eyes half-lidded. "C'mon, now, all's fair in love and war, isn't it? Besides..." She dashed forward, her tails fanning out with another audible snap. "... you're the one who said he
( ... )
A horizontal swing? Come now, Konata, are you really that predictable obvious predictable? Mion smirked, turning her sword sideways to block Konata's swing...and lengthening it by forcing more digisoul to its end.
"My, my, Konata...looks like you've got a long way to go."
And slap they did. Impmon had just gotten slapped in the face. By Vi's tail. Well, he would not stand for that. "I'll show you strong! NIGHT OF FIRE!" His fingers it and he threw six fireballs at Vi-Elecmon, each one approaching her from a different angle.
Digisoul-lengthening!? Konata's eyes widened and she broke off the attack, hopping back a few paces. "Wha- wait, you- I've got a long way to- your SWORD just got a long way to- is that even LEGAL!?" she sputtered, her digisoul Levaken flickering due to her surprise.
"Tsk...!" Vi-Elecmon flattened herself against the ground and ducked and weaved through the fireballs, her movements a stark contrast to her Tamer's clumsiness. Still, there were SIX of the things- Vi slipped by four fireballs before getting blindsided by the fifth and directly slammed by the sixth.
She hit the ground rolling, her fur smoking slightly. Judging by the grin on Vi's usually serious face, she was hardly out of the running, though. "Okay, THAT'S a bit more like it!" More electricity sparked across her tails- this time, it converged into a larger blade of lightning that swept towards Impmon. "ASSASSIN'S BOLT!"
Mion couldn't help but let out a hearty laugh. "What's wrong, Konata? Can't measure up to my strength?" She was well aware of the implications of her statement. Both implications. And yet she loved it. She positioned her sword back into a striking position. "Here I go!" She ran again, letting out a battle cry.
A chuckle spread from Impmon's mouth. "Like that frightens me!" In actuality, it did. Extremely. He luckily had enough time to run out of the way of the lightening blade, sending small balls of dark flame at Vi as he ran. At the last moment, he leaped aside completely.
"Eh!? That's..." Konata couldn't decide whether to grin or grimace- but, after a moment, couldn't resist the former. "That's just below the belt!!" the much shorter girl shot back, bringing her sword up and around to guard her body. Seeming more sure of herself, Konata stood her ground against Mion's rushing attack-
- until the very last moment, when she ducked under Mion's attack and rolled forward. "You can't pull off a high guard..." Konata's leg swept out, trying to take Mion's balance out from under her. "... against a low kick!"
"Well, I'm not done yet...!" Vi braced herself against the ground- and brought her Assassin's Bolt swinging back toward her own body, parrying most of the fireballs. With a growl, she batted the last few right back at Impmon.
Whoa! A well thought out attack! Go Konata! In any case, it did surprise Mion. But she had trained her body as well as her sword...
...so she leaped over the kick. That's not to say it didn't put her off balance; when she landed, she stumbled on her feet, almost falling over but not. She turned her head to Konata, who was now behind her. "...Impressive, impressive. Forgetting the advantages of your size was a foolish mistake...but not my last one!!" She spun fully, her sword across her body in a guard now.
Oh what the hell. Impmon wasn't out of fire at all but striking at him with his own attack? If he wasn't so impressed he would call foul. He threw more fireballs back at Vi to try and block the deflected ones...but naturally some slipped through, singing his skin. He had an inherent resistance to fire - but he still winced.
And he still mocked. "Can't hit me with your own attacks, huh? Have to resort to deflecting mine?"
"Man~... as expected of my husband, you don't go down easily," Konata mused, still crouching close to the ground.
To be honest, she hadn't really planned things out farther than the low kick, and hesitated for a moment- by the time Konata got back to her feet, Mion had MORE than enough time to put up her guard. "But you haven't seen anything yet! GOD SLASH TYPHOOOON!!" The otaku took her digisoul blade in both hands and hurtled forward, spinning wildly.
Vi's eyebrow twitched slightly at the jibes, but she didn't bother responding; instead, her tails rippled again and fired another salvo of lightning bolts at Impmon.
A blank stare passed Mion's face...and her katana then grew larger and fanned out, becoming less like a katana and more like a Big Fucking Sword. Mion took a step back...
"BATTER UP!!"
...and swung like a baseball bat. Konata was the ball.
Impmon resorted to not using verbal jabs and instead used a group of Summon attacks as a shield against Vi's lightening bolts. Little bits of the lightening still slipped through, brushing over his arms, but he didn't pay it much heed. Instead, he used the opportunity to fire his Summon attack at Vi.
What Konata would've LIKED to say was "Hah! Too slow- I've got you now!!"
What Konata DID end up saying was "Hah! Too sloggflblWARGH," mostly because she couldn't stop herself from spinning into Mion's counterattack and eating a home run direct hit. The blue-haired girl landed heavily on her back and stayed there for a few moments, her eyes spinning.
Vi wasn't nearly fast enough to completely dodge Impmon's attack, and she couldn't suppress her wince as the Summon attack scraped her side. "... right, we're not going to get anywhere like this," she muttered, looking back over her shoulder at her Tamer. "Konata!"
"Tsk- not bad, Mion, but- eh? What? ... a-aah, okay!" Konata slowly levered herself up to her feet, shaking off her wooziness, and threw Vi a thumbs-up. "Final Fusion! APPROVED!!" A burst of light engulfed Vi-Elecmon's form-
- and left Reppamon standing in her place. "Let's take this up to the next level, shall we?" she rumbled to Impmon, her voice slightly deeper.
Mion smirked at Konata, her katana shrinking back to...well, the size of a katana. "...Ready for more?" She chirped.
A yipe called her attention to her partner. "M-Mion! Evolve me! Please!!" He didn't want to be fox food.
The same kind of bright light that spread from Vi a moment before lit up Impmon...and when it dissipated Opossumon floated where he once was. "Alright, let's get started! MAD BALLOON BOMBER!" Exactly What It Says On The Tin He threw bombs. That looked like balloons.
"Alright!" Mion focused on her battle now. "Let's continue, shall we?!"
"... I'm more than ready!" Konata replied cheerfully once she stopped seeing stars, never mind the fact that she was going to be FEELING that bruise the day after. "That was just the first round..." She took a step toward Mion, transferred her digisoul to one hand, and swung her weapon in a down-to-up motion. "... and it's always best out of three!!"
If there was one thing Vi loved about being Reppamon, it was that she could actually run, leap, and bound instead of waddle, hop, and roll. She made good use of her increased mobility by running right into and straight under the bomb barrage before they could reach where she'd just been standing. And once she was within range of Opossumon? "JUUGA RANGEKI!" Clawing attacks. Lots of them.
Mion put up her sword in a defensive manner again - but it pushed her back and she winced slightly. Oh, she wouldn't let her advance any more! "Then you won't even get one...!"
She slashed once more, trying several quick strikes instead of one big one.
Opossumon didn't like the clawing attacks. "Aaaaahhh!!" They hurt. "Dammit, that's no faaaiir!"
"Oi, oi," Vi grumbled. "You'll be participating too, so don't get any weird ideas." The blue fox-rabbit-lizard looked at Impmon. "So... you versus me, and Konata spars with Mion?"
