Slowly, Haku moved from the piano to step down from the stage, though the song continued, as did her words. Her heart was a picture of pain and elation, but her uncertainty showed on her face.
The usual bravado, the tough front that he wore, the one Haku had learned to see through so fast melted away in an instant, the moment his eyes were on her's his fears, his desires, how much he'd missed her was all right there.
He took another few uncertain steps and waited for her to close the distance between them as their voices rang out in unison.
Haku hesitated, eyes glancing away for just a second, but that pain she felt, the memory of being forgotten even in a dream came back to her sharply. She looked back, tears appearing even as she moved forward.
"Tonight, tonight, I hold your hand I grasp it tight and fall asleep good night, my love..."
There was a small break, a softness in the music that didn't seem to call for words, and slowly she reached towards him, taking his hand and squeezing it tightly before singing another line alone.
Powerful arms, toned and muscled slipped around her as gentle as they could and Onizuka presssed himself gently against her, his eyes on hers, so close she could feel his breath on her lips.
"i can't ever say goodbye
last night, good night last night, good night and even if my voice fades its melody will not vanish."
Her arms moved around him, and together their voices rang through the bar, clear and passionate.
"last night, good night last night, good night and when i think that someday it's going to all come to an end
i wish for your beautiful smile to always stay in the night sky
good night, my love..."
As the song came to a close, another tear escaped, but it was one of certainty and joy, and of relief, knowing that even her mistake hadn't driven him away forever.
Holding her close, Onizuka felt a hot salty tear ride down his chin and land on his collar as he leaned in and whispered back "I love you Haku."
And then he kissed her, soft warm lips, bodies pressed together, hearts inline. He kissed her like a man dieing of thirst and she was a glass of water. Gentle and light at first but deeper soon. Passion, need, want. Her scent filled his head, her touch raced along his arms and up the back of his neck. He felt positively ALIVE in all the right ways.
And as he drew his lips back from the kiss only an inch or two, "Always and forever." He spoke again, so close she could feel his lips moving.
All her fears, all of that terrible fright from the attack all the way to the dream melted away in his kiss, the strength of her embrace holding all the power to lift her from the darkness of all she'd experienced in those few short days that stretched in to near eternity.
But there was still a linger of a doubt, one last thing she had to say.
"I'm sorry... for everything... for driving you away. I'll never do that again. Ever."
Haku shook her head slowly, gently caressing his cheek again.
"I'm just glad you're here now, and that you're alright... I don't want to fight like that again. I... I understand now, why you were so afraid. I don't want to be forgotten... and your heart would break if I forgot you. I think, somewhere inside... mine would, too."
"i see your profile..."

And gently plucking the smoke from his lips snubbing it out in an ashtray...Onizuka stepped into the light looking up at Haku on stage.
