Speed grimaced and tried to bite back a groan of pain as he regained consciousness again. Experimentally he opened his eyes. The blue sky and tree canopy that had been there the last time he'd opened his eyes was still there.
Damn... he thought to himself weakly. Was hoping for a hospital.
He felt something pressing on his chest; shifting his gaze, Tim saw the long-eared...thing again. It was pressing a rag or a clump of bandages against the bullet hole near his shoulder in an effort to stop the bleeding.
Speed tried to open his mouth to tell it not to bother, but the slightest movement sent a jolt of pain lancing through his chest and shoulder. He lapsed into unconsciousness again.
