Dawn was leaving the Silver Dragon with Piplup & Goma in tow as she'd gotten off work early for a change when they came across a certain event...that had the Coordinator's jaw drop in surprise seconds before she scanned the very large crowd of Tamers.

"I'm gonna regret asking this, but who are you looking for in a crowd this big Dawn?"

"Someone who wears glasses, has his hair slicked back in a ponytail and is probably with...!" Dawn stopped herself from talking as she found exactly who she was looking for and gave him a certain look.

"...Knew I was gonna regret asking that question!"

Negi felt the HEAT of Dawn's glare BORE into him as he turned around. "Um... h-hi Dawn, what's up?" he stammered.

"...That's ALL you have to say to me?!" Dawn exclaimed, making her way toward Negi as Piplup started squirming in her arms, eager to start attacking the young Mage. "What's up is the fact that someone I care about didn't even bother to tell me, much less send me an invitation about this training session! I come by on my way home after I get off work early...and see you training with other Tamers!"

Dawn wasn't even going to specify who he was training with, since Negi should already know who he was training with.

"B-but I did leave a post on the Comms!" protested Negi, now completely worried and flailing about. "Dawn, really, I didn't mean to leave you out of this; I thought you'd have seen it this morning!"

"...I never read the posts in the morning!" Dawn groaned as she facepalmed in disbelief at the fact that Negi didn't know this about her-though to be fair, she never did tell him about this aspect of her life.

"I'm normally running around trying to get my hair done nicely for work, so if there's something really important going on I turn on the Communications and I listen for the important posts."

Negi hung his head. "I'm sorry Dawn, I really thought you did! It's my fault. Still if you want me to teach you a few things..."

"...Wouldn't your other students get jealous that you'd decided to come train me out of the blue? I know I would, even though I shouldn't!" Dawn hated feeling this way, but she knew that out of his more current friends that Karin had the closer bond with Negi than she ever would-Pactio or not.

Negi frowned. "Dawn, it's not like that! I really think everyone needs to have a fair go at this. You were delayed for a few hours so I didn't know that you didn't get the message!"

"It's my obligation as a teacher," he added, tapping his fist to his chest.

"...I'm sorry, Negi! I just wish I'd managed to get here sooner than I did."

Now Dawn felt guilty for what she'd said and she couldn't really stay mad at Negi either-even though a part of her wanted to.

"It's fine," admitted Negi. "Truth be told, I was hinging on everyone I care about to check the comms in the morning. I'm sorry. I promise to let you know directly from now on, okay?"

He smiled, and it was one of those things that seemed like the world was all right.

"...Thanks, Negi~! You're the greatest!" Dawn smiled excitedly before pulling Negi into a hug, unknowingly squishing Piplup at the same time!

"Pipluuuuuuup...!"

"Oh! Sorry, Piplup!"

Negi blushed as Piplup was mooshed between them. "Sorry Piplup, didn't mean to do that," he apologized to the penguin pokemon.

"So, where do you want to begin?" inquired Negi.

"Piplup Pip!" Dawn beamed at her partner's positive response before placing him down alongside Goma; it seemed like Piplup was starting to trust Negi.

"Now I want you two to stay here while I learn the basics-and DON'T get into any fights with Chamo while I'm training!" Dawn instructed the Penguin Pokemon before turning her attention back to Negi.

"Alright-I think I'm ready to learn how to defend myself with a weapon!"

Negi blinked at the weapon part and then he nodded. "All right! We'll start slow then."

It was then that he thumped the wall of a seemingly innocent shed and a weapons rack telescoped out from it, mostly all training items. "The weapon styles I'm well versed in right now is the staff and sword," explained Negi as he reached for a certain item on the rack. "But with your build and speed, I think this is more your style."

He pulled out a long strip of cloth and held it out. Chamo blinked. "Aniki! That's--!"

Negi grinned and nodded. "Fuso-Jutsu, the Iron-Cloth Technique. Master Ku showed me how to use it. I haven't perfected it, but it's perfect for Dawn who needs to build up her chi energies first before magical power."

"...The 'Iron-Cloth' technique?" Dawn asked, a look of confusion on her face as she accepted the strip of cloth. "I'm not gonna be learning hos to clean dishes, am I? I already know how to do that!"

Negi chuckled, shaking his head. "The Fuso-Jutsu is the skill of using a cloth as a spear or a ranged weapon. But most importantly..."

He whirled and snapped the weapon out, encircling a spear and then tugging it -- the spear snapping in half. "It becomes a viable weapon. Martial artists use this with articles of clothing, ranging from towels to belts. Ku-Roshi told me how to use this technique, though I never tried it for myself."
