Shiki gasped and covered her eyes, vaguely away of Mr. Mew murmuring her name before everything faded away.
*** It was morning. The light filtering through her blinds told her that much.
"Shiki! Hurry up, Eri’s waiting for you!"
Eri? Shiki rubbed her eyes, heavy with sleep. But don’t I always walk to her...?
That was silly. Why would she think that? Eri always met her in the morning. Sitting up and stretching, she called, "C-coming!" As she pushed herself out of bed and moved to get dressed, she groped at the chair next to her bed and grasped…nothing. She stared at the empty chair for a moment, finding something was missing - something familiar, something needed…
But she shrugged it off, walking down the hall to the bathroom, past an old chest that held a worn black cat plushie at the bottom, its left eye loose and its stuffing slipping out its seams.
"Sorry to keep you waiting!" Shiki ran out of her house, waving at Eri. She’d done up her hair, like she always did, and dressed in her favorite D+B brand clothing. Oddly, she’d had some weird thoughts while picking out today’s outfit, wondering for a brief moment why there wasn’t any Mus Rattus clothing in her closet - but that was also silly, because that style of clothing was just too simple for her; it didn’t show off her flair and personality

As they neared their destination, Eri pointed ahead. "Oh, look, Atsuko and the others are already here!"
So they were. "Here" was 104, the biggest shopping center in all of Shibuya. It had all the latest trends, pins, clothes - if it was in, 104 had it. Thus, Shiki had everything there. She had to keep up with the trends, after all.
They headed towards a gaggle of girls, eyes glued to their cell phones and mouths going a mile a minute. They seemed to be engaged in several different conversations at once. Until Shiki walked over, that is. Their eyes snapped up to her and they exchanged friendly smiles, complimenting her on her hair, clothes, and general "radiance" today. Nothing new, she inwardly boasted

Namely, a Wisemon floating upon a book.
"You should know I am doing this under protest," he said, raising his hand. "Eternal Nirvana."
And then there was a flash of light.
