Tim might not have found enough time to spend with his girlfriend, but he wasn't that naive about what was going on under his nose! He was trained by the World's Greatest Detective, after all; he knew that Irma had deep feelings for Hay Lin, and he totally understood that-they had a bond that had started since childhood.
As for him-he'd barely met her sometime before the Doomsday fiasco came and went, and during a day when she needed comfort over what had happened to Hay Lin...he'd been there.
This wasn't something he needed X around to hear, so he let his partner take the evening off when it came to his early patrol.
Is this how you would've handled it, Bruce...? When it came to dealing with girls, I mean. Not that you never told me much of anything about that part of your lifestyle...!
