"...So how did we miss this?" Coronamon asked, looking over the fortress.

Ben signaled for him be quiet as he kept an eye out for Susan or Zedd. So far, he hadn't seen Zedd, but he saw Susan turning away from a large balcony in the fortress.

"I don't like this already," he muttered. "Mrs. Vandom's there, but no sign of Zedd."

"What I want to know is how the hell he built it," said Kevin. "Seriously, where does this guy get to build something like this right next to a lightpost?"

Gotsumon just grumbled. "So how are we gonna do this?" he asked. "Stealth, or just start beating the place in?"

"Probably stealth," Ben said. "It's already going to be hard enough getting Mrs. Vandom out of there. We might stand a better chance catching her off-guard." And hope Zedd wasn't around, of course.

"Lovely," said Kevin. "We get to sneak around with a rock monster and a bright orange lion with a fireball on his head."

Gotsumon shot Kevin a glare, as the two of them moved to head inside. Once they found a way in, the group was traversing the castle's halls.

If they thought that getting in would be THAT easy, they have another thing coming. Guarding the hallways were Z-Putties, clamoring in their little language of sorts as they protected the passageway, not knowing of the four at the moment...

There is an art to sneaking into the heavily fortified lair of an evil overlord. You have to be both fast and careful, like making sure there's no one in the hall ahead of you and then hurrying down it so you don't run a bigger risk of getting caught. Or like being quick to cover Coronamon's mouth when he was startled when they got too close to a pair of Putties that had their backs to them.

Or, perhaps, not bringing along creatures that were made of large, heavy rocks.

Who then knocked over a statue as he was passing by.

Kevin glared at his partner, who just shrugged, and mouth 'sorry.'

The yelp? Wasn't enough to get their attention. The falling statue? More than enough. The creatures turned to see the four intruders, then race to take them down, knowing their superior numbers was probably more than enough to stop them.

"...So we fail at stealth," Ben noticed just before the Putties came over. Immediately, he realized his swords and began fighting.

"This is all your fault, Rockbutt," Coronamon said as he evolved to Meramon.

"Bah," growled Gotsumon, as he evolved into Deltamon. His three jaws snapped simultaneously as he spoke, "We get to kick butt!"

He released a blast of Triplex Force, while Kevin absorbed the material of the statue and sent it flying at the Putties.

The frontline of Putties were the first to be pummeled, one getting smacked by the statue, another ran over by the Triplex Force, as the rest raced in. Most of them stayed away from Meramon in fear of being burnt (or melted as the case may be).

A group of three pounced on Deltamon, hoping to keep him down as another grabbed a pole and blocked Ben's sword attack. A group of two confronted Kevin and tag-teamed him, throwing punches at the same time

"This is easy!" Meramon declared, blasting fireballs at the Putties that were keeping well away from him.

"They're not attacking you," Ben pointed out as his swords connected with the pole the Putty blocked with.

Ben quickly found himself run against the wall. Digisoul flared up around him, but he couldn't get enough leverage to get the Putty completely off him. So he put his situation to as good use as he could. He kept his back against the wall and leapt up to kick the Putty in the chest, hoping to get it to back off.

Kevin grunted as he attempted to fight them off, instinctively punching at the Z-symbols on their chests.

"They're like DN Aliens...!" grunted Kevin. "Only... crustier!"

Meanwhile, Deltamon attempted to pull the ones that were swarming on him off and crunch them in his hand-mouths.

The strikes Ben and Kevin made on the Putties caused the Z-Emblems to glow... then forced the creatures to shatter. The ones attacked by Deltamon were either torn apart or reverted the same way.

The remaining ones, realizing the severity of their peril... kept fighting, still hoping to overwhelm them.

For a moment, Ben paused in complete shock at the destroyed Putties. But others quickly swarmed over to take the one Putty's place, so he had no time to think about it anymore as he charged back into battle, Digisoul flaring around him as he tried to get at the Z-Emblems.

Meramon, on the other hand, was outraged.

"They've got a self-destruct button? Are you kidding me?"

Of course, immediately after saying this, he was thrown into a wall.

"... Beats dehydrating them, I guess!" replied Kevin, as he imitated Ben and kept pounding away at the Z-Emblems.

Deltamon, however, had... a large number of them in his mouth again, so he repeated his actions from the invasion.

He fired the ones stuck in his mouths.

Like cannonballs.
