With the failed attempt at getting Elyon's power swept beneath the rug, Miranda had decided to move on and upward with this little plan of theirs.
The UAE had decided, surprisingly with an idea from Susan Vandom of all people, to wire Charlie O'Neill and Hostage Exchange him with a fairly unique piece of technology. A living automaton, built by David Xanatos and powered on magic. It was as close to creating life in this world.
Oh certainly they didn't really WANT Coldstone, but that was left up to the others to decide if they would like to deal with the ambush set up. No sense letting them get away with Charlie THAT easily.
"All right," purred Miranda. "We'll exchange our hostages in the middle. Any move, and the dear old Captain will be reacquainted with possible side effects of a gun."
The irony of shooting Charlie was so thick, it could be cut with an industrial-sized tractor.
