Who: Noir, Skuld, Pico
What: Luckless loser or hero of fortune?
When: Feb 20th, during the invasion in the morning
Where: D'Ango Forest
"ow...ow...ow...damnit...ow..."
Noir was picking twigs out of his clothes as he hiked in the general direction of the lamp post. It would take hours to reach it from where they'd landed.
Pico had softened the landing with her body as well as crashing through the trees so while he hurt all over...he wasn't injured beyond help.
"I evolved!" Pico sighed cheerfully from atop his hat.
"Yeah I knew you would...I kinda figured out what was holding you back..." Noir admitted sheepishly as he wove through some bushes. The early morning light filtered through the trees in little shafts of gold and despite knowing how much trouble his friends were in...the sights and sounds of the forest kept him calm.
Pico tried to flutter down to look him in the eyes but her wings hurt to move. The landing had taken alot out of her, "What do you mean?"
"Well..." Noir took a deep breath, ashamed to talk about it, "When I had my dream in December..." he began.
"The one that made you stop being a crybaby?" Pico interjected.
Noir twitched, "Yeah...that one...anyway. I heard Gaia's voice for the first time since I got here...and I realized something."
"what?"
"You sound just like her."
There was a long pause and Noir kept trudging along the dirt and moss covered forest path.
"I'm confused." Pico stated after a few minutes.
"Well...Jinx helped me figure this part out. In my world Gaia can't defend herself...and I feel like I failed her by dieing. So I didn't really want you to fight, all I wanted was to protect you."
There was another long silence and Pico started laughing. She laughed long and hard and let out a sigh at the end, "Oh honey...Noir...that's the sappiest thing you've said to date!"
Noir snorted, "I've said much sappier and you know it!"
