Said something would be a small shop that had been right near Erio when it exploded into flames. Whatever it sold became irrelevant within seconds, as the arrival of... something had occurred with all the force of a small explosive.
Rubble, glass, Digi-Eggs of both store owners and patrons came flying out of the burning building. And, in fact, one Goblimon came out screaming, having somehow escaped the brunt of the explosion--
--only for a sword to come jabbing out of the fires, running right through his back.
As another Digi-Egg clattered to the street, two figures came marching out.
One, was a Duskmon.
The other, a... knight of some sort, wielding the source of that Goblimon's demise. The knight had heavy, black and blue armor, and a long, crimson cape. It was difficult, from the armor, to make out the gender... and when the knight spoke, the gender seemed masked even then, though it didn't appear to be by obviously electronic means.
"Agent of DATS," the knight stated.
Yes. Lillithmon's recent "gift" had done well to mask everything that Signum was, from appearance to powers.
Yellow magical energy flashing over him like lightning, Erio formed his Barrier Jacket on instinct as he flew back. He drove Strada's bladed end into the hard street to bring himself to a stop, dropping down to one knee from the abruptness of it all.
Elecmon, wasn't so lucky, and went tumbling back end over end.
The young man grit his teeth, pulling himself up and yanking his Device out of the ground, spinning it around to point it at this attacker.
"You may refer to me as Vectra," she stated. "I am to test the skill of those that are the self-proclaimed the defenders of this world."
Your resolve is already fractured, Erio, Signum thought to herself, gripping the hilt of her blade tightly. In order to move forward, in order to become and do all I desire... all of those old ties...
She lowered her head, eyes narrowing with intense focus. The helmet's eyes flashed a bright red. They must be severed!
With that, both she and Duskmon dashed straight towards the boy, each thrusting a blade out for him.
Erio barely had time to punch in an emergency hail to DATS Neon as the knight and Digimon came hurtling for him. Civilians everywhere scattered and were fleeing in terror from the initial explosion, and Elecmon was rather rattled from being tossed back and trying to get back to his feet...
Erio grit his teeth, and brought Strada up to block. Both swords impacted, electrical power crackling from the Device as he willed his magic to reinforce it.
Still, against the strength of both at once...
His feet were driven hard into the ground, cracking and shattering the pavement beneath them. He tried to push back, but it was to no avail; there was no way he could overpower the both of them...
With Erio blocking both his and Signum's swords, Duskmon saw very clearly that the boy was wide open. Pulling his other, demon-headed hand back, another curved, red blade ejected from it...
Before Duskmon could do this, however, there was a distracting yell and a flash of light, as Elecmon evolved to Growmon in the blink of an eye. Rushing forward, his body was then brought to a sudden stop by the force of an intense Exhaust Flame being launched straight from his maw at Erio's attackers.
Signum saw this incoming, and threw a hand out to grab Duskmon. With all her strength, she threw the Digimon back, and shot herself into the air. The blast flew harmlessly past Erio and struck the ground, creating a large, but otherwise also harmless, explosion.
Signum floated there in the air, for a moment, staring down with a bit of...
Amusement, actually. The boy had listened to her. Seeing the intense look on both their faces...
Yes, their teamwork had improved greatly.
She allowed herself an unheard, mild chuckle.
...excellent.
For this to be an easy battle would have been a horrible thing, indeed.
Duskmon had hit the ground, and slid back a ways, but as soon as he heard his Tamer's command...
He retracted his swords, jumped up, and, power swelling in his eyes and gauntlets... he screamed, "GEIST ABEND!" and launched several waves of energy beams in multiple directions down at his targets.
Erio brought up his D-Reader's Protect barrier, deflecting several of the beams, while Growmon... was able to jump back and roll away. Though this act caused the ground around him to shake, he was otherwise able to avoid the beams as they struck the ground and exploded.
Erio grit his teeth. Whomever this "Vectra," was... he or she was good.
Had he NOT had that conversation with Signum, had he NOT worked on Elecmon's confidence and their teamwork...
...
Well, he didn't really want to think where things might be then, otherwise.
He narrowed his eyes, staring up at Vectra as he (she? He really couldn't tell) floated up above them.
This was still going to be difficult, though, unless he got some help...
And on his way was Takuya. He was running as fast as he could with Flamon following close behind.
"Takuya, what's wrong?" Flamon asked.
"Someone needs our help!" Takuya responded back before seeing the scene that was unfolding. He stopped short of being behind Erio and panted slightly.
"I tried to come as fast as I could!" He looked at the enemy before him and when he saw Duskmon, he remembered about Kouichi's hard time in the Digital World before he was saved.
There was no way this could be good. No way whatsoever.
Signum stared down, and... almost snorted a bit. "Cannot rely on your own strength, is it?"
This was expected, but...
It would not do.
Not at all.
No, there was something else she had to prove here...
Throwing herself down out of the air, she raised her sword and aimed herself right for Takuya, while Duskmon dove out towards Growmon, attempting to tackle him.
Growmon braced his body, but found himself being knocked back and driven straight into a wall as Duskmon collided with him.
Erio, on the other hand, hadn't even had the chance to give Takuya any thanks before this 'Vectra' came down for the other boy.
Gripping Strada tightly, he threw himself between them, catching the knight's sword with his own Device. They were both at a dead stop for a moment, but Erio found himself quickly sliding back...
Until a spinning circle of fire emerged the once again Agnimon.
"AGNIMON!" Agnimon shouted and he ran up quickly to aid Erio. However, in the way, Agnimon had spun himself in a fiery tornado, which accelerated his speed and he attempted to give their enemy a roundhouse kick.
Signum saw the attack incoming, and dropped away from Erio, bringing her armor-covered arm up to block the incoming kick. Flames... she was used to using that as her own weapon. Controlling it.
"Something like that..." she growled as her arm absorbed the blow, and she ignored the resulting pain. "ISN'T NEAR ENOUGH!" she yelled, and with her free hand, swung her sword up at Agnimon.
Duskmon, meanwhile, jumped back as Growmon impacted with the wall, ejecting both his blades again. They shone brightly with crimson energy, and he prepared to strike out...
Erio pulled back, though still held Strada on guard. Instinct told him to hold back, or else get in the way of Agnimon's attack... and then when he saw the flash of Vectra's sword swinging for the Digimon, he had nowhere near enough time to try and deflect it himself.
Growmon, on the other hand... the spikes on his arms snapped out, crackling with electricity as Duskmon swing his swords at him.
"PLASMA BLADE!" the dragon roared, catching Duskmon's twin strikes with his own.
He then... grinned a bit, pushing back against his opponent. "Not... gonna be that much of a push over... NEVER AGAIN!"

And he prepared to ram it right into Erio's gut.
