"Out and about, are we?"

The words came from behind Signum, from... a Renamon, who was lounging rather languidly atop an outward vent. She made a sound rather unlike a purr, as she picked herself up off of it and approached the knight and her partner.

Signum turned her head slightly back, hand instinctively dropping to Leavatein's hilt.

Kotemon, also, tensed, but simply out of surprise that... Well. He hadn't noticed her there moments ago.

...

Of course, he knew Renamon could transport themselves easily, but...

Signum's eyes narrowed, fingers tightening around her weapon. There was nothing outwardly threatening about this Digimon, but the sudden appearance had her a bit on guard.

One did not usually just randomly approach people on rooftops.

"State your business," Signum said, shortly.

"Oh, I'm just... hanging around," the Renamon said, yawning. "Didn't expect someone like you to show up, after all."

She looked Signum over for a moment, and smiled appreciatively. "Mmm... yes. Impressive... I can tell it just by looking at you. You have poise, beauty, and skill..."

Well, that certainly did nothing to make Signum feel more comfortable. If anything, she became more guarded, and Kotemon scowled a little.

"While I appreciate the compliment," Signum said, calmly, "I have things I really must be doing."

The Renamon licked her lips.

"What a coincidence..." she said, her voice haughty as she continued to stare at Signum. "So do I... but really, there aren't enough hours in the day..."

"Signum-san..." Kotemon said, warily. He... did not like this Renamon, for reasons he could not really place.

Signum's gaze became narrower, and she began to step towards the roof's edge. "Then. I hope you'll forgive my rudeness, but I'm in the middle of work."

"Another coincidence! So am I!"

Black fire erupted onto the Renamon's palms as she lept at Signum, moving with surprising speed and ferocity. Her smile became a terrifying grin, and she swiped at the knight with all her strength.

Without hesitation, Leavatein was pulled out and brought up into a defensive position in one swift movement. She blocked the incoming attack, grunting and sliding back from the impact, while still holding her blade steady.

"SIGNUM-SAN!" Kotemon shouted, electricity crackling around his wooden sword, before he prepared to leap at the attacking fox.

Signum grunted, gritting her teeth as she felt her stance begin to weaken. The attack would get through, unless...

"Leavatein!"

{Ja! Panzer Geist!}

A pink protective aura surged up around Signum and she let her sword drop, hoping it would be enough to protect her... while Kotemon took a leap at the Renamon.

The Renamon cackled, as she spun around, fire erupting across her feet as she attempted to kick Kotemon away.

"Good reflexes too! A truly impressive body you have... Mn~! I would love to have you as one of my possessions, so I could truly know what it's like to enjoy it...!"

The kick struck Kotemon right in the face. His electrical attack gave out before he could even shout it out, and he went flying back, bouncing across the rooftop.

Signum's eyes widened, not just at her partner's peril, but the fox's words. This... was certainly far from ordinary. Both her strength, and what she spoke about...

Leaping back - now at rooftop's edge - the Panzer Geist falling away, Signum held out her sword.

{EXPLOSION!}

She snapped the sword out, and its blade... broke apart, into a chained, bladed whip.

{SCHLAGENFORM!}

She then sent it out, spiraling towards the Renamon.

That surprised her. She let out a cry as the whip lashed against her, knocking her back. She held the wound, which had been ripped across her chest fur, and pouted, making a whining sound.

"Now that was just mean...!" she wailed, almost like a spoiled child.

{Schwertform!} Leavatein shouted, as the whip snapped back into a sword.

Signum eyed Kotemon, who was stirring, but still a bit out of it. That attack had been significantly stronger than your average Child Digimon... But she didn't yet go to his side; she couldn't let her guard down.

Dropping her sword low, she walked up towards Renamon, keeping it trained on her. "Explain yourself. NOW."

"Explain myself...?"

The fox digimon looked up, wearing the same maniacal grin she had when she'd made her attack. "Very well. I'll tell you everything. I'll... show you everything..."

And a terrible, dark aura flared up around her, as her body began to change.

"Even things you don't want to see."

Emerging from the mist... came the Demon King Lillithmon, who settled her hungry, evil gaze on Signum. A cloud of mist fanned up around them, masking their battlefield from prying eyes...

There wasn't too much that could startle Signum ( ... )

"This mist makes it impossible for anyone to leave," Lillithmon began to explain, as she started advancing towards Signum. "Anyone outside... well, they'll just see an empty roof top. Everything is designed to be self contained, so if you're worried about property damage, well..."

Lillithmon chuckled.

"Just be glad that I have to keep a low profile. Believe me, I could care less if people die because of me."

She licked her lips, and began appraising Signum again. And this time, Wolfmon as well.

"Yes... yes. You really feed my hunger, you know? If only I could see into your soul... but no. It's blocked to me...."

Lillithmon giggled.

"I'll have to destroy that barrier..."
